What are Contract Software Administrators?

Contract Software Administrators are professionals responsible for managing, maintaining, and overseeing software contracts within an organization. They ensure compliance with licensing agreements, track renewals, negotiate terms, and coordinate with vendors to secure the best deals for software products and services. Their role often involves collaborating with legal, procurement, and IT teams to ensure that all software assets are used efficiently and in accordance with contractual obligations. Additionally, they help organizations avoid legal risks and unnecessary expenses by monitoring license usage and managing contract documentation.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Contract Software Administrator, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Contract Software Administrator, you need a strong understanding of contract management principles, software licensing, and compliance, often supported by a degree in business, IT, or related fields. Familiarity with contract management systems (CMS), ERP platforms, and certifications like Certified Contract Manager (CCM) are commonly expected. Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and effective communication are crucial soft skills for managing documentation and stakeholder relationships. These skills ensure accurate contract oversight, minimize legal or financial risks, and support organizational efficiency.

Job description

Licensing and Contract Administrator

The Opportunity:

With all the information available today, it takes a skilled licensing and contract administrator to know how to find and interpret the best data to give their clients the right answers. With the critical decisions made in our military every day, we need an administrator like you to do just that.

As a Licensing and Contract Administrator, you use your specialized experience in DFARS and FAR processes for software and technology licensing and your attention to detail to develop reports and compliance assessments that give your client the actionable intelligence and context they need. If you have strong analytical skills and a problem-solving mindset, we have an opportunity to use those skills to support our warfighters and protect our national security.

You'll help your client understand the complex landscape of DoD acquisition regulations and intellectual property policies. Using your comprehensive understanding of contract administration and enterprise software licensing, you'll track renewal cycles, ensure vendor compliance with federal procurement requirements, and optimize costs for software and hardware procurements. You'll validate licensing agreements, interpret contract terms, and develop strategies to maintain compliance and efficiency. As the authority on DoD licensing agreements and SaaS procurement, your client will look to you for time-critical recommendations, often under pressure.

This is a chance to grow your expertise and broaden your skillset into areas like enterprise contract negotiation, IT asset management, and cost optimization strategies. You'll share your expertise with other administrators through leadership and mentoring. We focus on growing as a team to deliver the best support to our customers, so you'll have resources to learn new skills and tools.

Work with us as we provide the right information at the right time to support the critical needs of our warfighters and nation's leaders.

Join us. The world can't wait.

You Have:

  • Experience managing enterprise software licenses, tracking renewal cycles, and ensuring vendor compliance with federal procurement requirements
  • Knowledge of DFARS and FAR processes for software and technology licensing, including DoD acquisition regulations and intellectual property policies
  • Ability to interpret contracts, track licenses, and implement cost optimization strategies for software and hardware procurements
  • Bachelor's degree in a Contract Law or Business Management field, or 4+ years of experience in contract administration in lieu of a degree

Nice If You Have:

  • Experience with DoD licensing agreements, SaaS procurement, and enterprise contract negotiation
  • Knowledge of IT asset management practices and enterprise procurement strategies
  • Ability to lead process improvements and mentor team members
  • Certified Professional Contracts Manager (CPCM) or IT Asset Management (ITAM) Certification
