Description
Job Title: Travel Laborer WI Based - Travel throughout the Midwest is required.
Department: Construction
Reports To: Construction Manager
Employment Status: Hourly (Non-exempt)
Primary Location: Rice Lake, WI and Beaver Dam, WI
Pay Range: TBD
We will determine salary based on skills and experience in relation to the function of the role, as well as equity to any other employees in the same or similar role.
Job Summary:
The Laborer works on the construction site and is responsible for cleaning the site to prepare it, removing hazards, loading and unloading materials, and operating and using various tools and equipment to complete assigned tasks.
Job Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to):
• Attend and participate in morning and afternoon job specific safety / huddle meetings as needed
• Operate various tamping machines as per specifications
• Inspect machines, equipment and assist with everyday maintenance
• Assist with loading, unloading, and preparing of jobsite materials
• Maintain neat and clean work area
• Inspect and operate hand tools for various activities
• Assist the operator with excavation of trenches, placement of shoring and backfilling procedures
• Dig entry and exit pits
• Placement of conduit in open trenches
• Proofing conduits
• Potholing existing utilities
• Assist with rigging and setting of structures
• Forming and pouring of concrete
• Prep and placement of asphalt
• Maintain safety of company vehicles and ensured optimal utilization
• Ensure compliance to customer requirements and completed activities
• Observe and promote safety compliance
• Complete required safety training annually
• Report injuries and other accidents to the foreman
• Assist coworkers in ensuring site is clean and organized at the end of each shift
• Other duties as assigned
Required Skills & Qualifications:
• Must have CDL
• High school or equivalent education
• Valid Driver's license
• Reliable transportation to various jobsites in the area
• Subject to pre-employment background check, drug test, and MVR
o Subject to random drug screenings
• Ability to follow instruction
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact with crew, leadership and clients
• Strong understanding of safety procedures and policies
• Must be able to meet physical demands of the position; ability to lift up to 75 pounds
• Excellent vision or the use of prescription lenses
• Exceptional manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
• Perform a variety of manual tasks for extended periods of time in unfavorable weather conditions
• Willing to work overtime, nights, and weekends
• Willing to work in inclement weather
• Willing to work at heights
Desired Skills and Qualifications (but not necessary):
• Previous experience and knowledge of underground utility construction
• Experience in operating small equipment and hand tools
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Must be able and willing to work outdoors and in inclement weather conditions
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to include: nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call as needed.
  • Must be able to lift and carry materials of all shapes and sizes, weighing 40 to 90 pounds
  • Must be able to maintain visual and audible contact with other crewman and all moving or stationary persons/vehicles/objects to ensure safe coordination of movement
  • Must be able to safely operate company vehicles or workaround heavy equipment and machinery
  • Must be able to stand or walk for long periods of time
  • Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl while performing work
  • Must be able to ascend and descend ladders
  • Must be able to work in small/confined areas
  • Must be able to work while wearing safety boots, safety glasses, hardhat, and any applicable safety gear.

• Valid driver's license
• OSHA 10
