We are seeking a Director of Revenue Accounting to lead revenue accounting and advertising billing operations for TiVo Ads, supporting a growing portfolio of CTV, programmatic, audience-targeted, and platform-based advertising revenue streams.
Position Overview:
The Director of Revenue Accounting will be responsible for end-to-end revenue accounting and advertising billing across TiVo’s advertising business. This includes ownership of ASC 606 revenue recognition, advertising invoicing, campaign-level billing, contract review, and revenue close.
This role requires deep expertise in CTV advertising, impression-based billing, programmatic ecosystems, ad serving data reconciliation, and platform monetization models. You will partner closely with Ad Operations, Sales, Data/Analytics, Product, Legal, and Finance to ensure revenue is accurate, compliant, and scalable as TiVo Ads continues to expand.
 
Key Responsibilities:
Revenue Accounting & Policy
  • Own revenue recognition for TiVo Ads in compliance with ASC 606, including assessment of performance obligations, variable consideration, and principal vs. agent considerations.
  • Review and interpret insertion orders (IOs), MSAs, platform agreements, and OEM/content partner monetization contracts.
  • Evaluate complex advertising arrangements including:
    • CPM, CPC, CPA, and fixed-fee campaigns
    • Programmatic and marketplace revenue (SSP/DSP integrations)
    • Revenue share and platform distribution models
    • Audience/data monetization and targeting fees
    • Makegoods, credits, rebates, and delivery-based adjustments
Leadership & Cross-Functional Impact
  • Build and scale a high-performing revenue accounting and/or billing team.
  • Act as a key finance partner to Sales, Ad Operations, Product, Legal, Data, and Engineering.
  • Provide guidance on deal structuring, pricing terms, and billing feasibility for complex advertising arrangements.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on CTV advertising revenue and billing practices across the organization.
Communicate effectively with senior leadership on revenue risks, opportunities, and operational improvements.
Advertising Billing & Campaign Monetization
  • Oversee end-to-end billing operations for TiVo Ads, ensuring invoices accurately reflect campaign delivery and contractual terms.
  • Manage billing across CTV/OTT, FAST channels, programmatic video, native ad products, and audience-targeted campaigns.
  • Ensure alignment between:
    • Ad server delivery (e.g., impressions, views, completion rates)
    • Campaign pacing and fulfillment
    • Contractual pricing and guarantees
  • Lead processes for:
    • Delivery reconciliation and billing validation
    • Under/over-delivery, makegoods, and campaign true-ups
    • Customer billing disputes and resolution
  • Partner with Ad Operations and Data teams to validate reporting from ad servers and measurement platforms.
CTV, Platform & Data Monetization
  • Support revenue and billing models tied to TiVo’s CTV platform, OEM partnerships, and content ecosystem.
  • Ensure accurate accounting for:
    • Platform monetization and ad inventory allocation
    • Data-driven advertising products (audience targeting, measurement, attribution)
    • Partner revenue share arrangements with content providers and manufacturers
  • Collaborate with Product and Engineering to design scalable billing and accounting workflows for new advertising offerings.
  • Validate and reconcile data from systems such as ad servers, SSPs, DSPs, and internal data platforms.
Systems, Data & Process Optimization
  • Drive automation and scalability across billing, revenue reconciliation, and reporting processes.
  • Partner cross-functionally to improve integrations between:
    • CRM/order systems (e.g., Salesforce)
    • Ad serving platforms (e.g., FreeWheel, Google Ad Manager)
    • Billing systems and ERP (e.g., NetSuite, Oracle, SAP)
  • Establish and enhance controls to ensure completeness and accuracy of revenue and ad delivery data.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in revenue accounting, with significant exposure to advertising, ad tech, digital media, or CTV
  • 4+ years of people leadership experience
  • Strong expertise in ASC 606, including principal vs. agent assessments and variable consideration
  • Deep experience with:
    • Advertising billing models (CPM, programmatic, IO-based, revenue share)
    • Campaign lifecycle (booking → delivery → reconciliation → invoicing)
    • Ad server and delivery data reconciliation
  • Experience working with large data sets and multi-system environments
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills
Preferred:
  • Direct experience with CTV, OTT, streaming platforms, or FAST ecosystems
  • Familiarity with platforms such as:
    • FreeWheel, Google Ad Manager, Magnite, The Trade Desk
    • Salesforce, Operative, Placements.io
    • NetSuite, Oracle, SAP, Workday
  • Background in platform-based or marketplace monetization models

The estimated base salary range for this full-time position is $139,981 - $185,475 plus bonus and benefits, and can vary if outside of this location. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, competencies, experience, market demands, internal parity, and relevant education or training.
