Job description

Supports the activities of the corporate development department in managing the efficient formation of business combinations by FedEx Corporation and its affiliates, including acquisitions, joint ventures and equity investments.

Job Description Overview:

As Manager of Corporate Development, you will play a key role in shaping the future growth trajectory of FedEx. Reporting to the Staff Director of Corporate Development, you will be responsible for evaluating and executing strategic opportunities - including mergers and acquisitions, equity investments, and joint ventures - that align with our long-term business priorities.

You will collaborate with global, cross-functional teams to assess potential transactions, monitor industry and competitive trends, and identify emerging opportunities and risks. You will support all stages of deal execution, including financial analysis, strategic evaluation, due diligence, and portfolio management, and will prepare materials and recommendations for senior leadership review. You will also help manage relationships with external stakeholders, including potential partners, target companies, investment banks, and advisors.

Essential Functions:

  • Reporting to the Director of Corporate Development, this position is responsible for evaluating and executing strategic opportunities - including mergers and acquisitions, equity investments, and joint ventures - that align with our long-term business priorities.
  • Collaborate with global, cross-functional teams to assess potential transactions, monitor industry and competitive trends, and identify emerging opportunities and risks.
  • Support all stages of deal execution, including financial analysis, strategic evaluation, due diligence, and portfolio management, and prepare materials and recommendations for senior leadership review.
  • Manage relationships with external stakeholders, including potential partners, target companies, investment banks, and advisors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor's degree/equivalent in finance, business, or related field.
  • MBA or equivalent graduate degree strongly preferred.

Minimum Experience:

  • Five (5) or more years in mergers and acquisitions, and/or private equity investment or equivalent experience, with demonstrated end-to-end transaction experience. Candidates with fewer years of experience who possess an accelerated track record of successful deal execution and strong financial acumen are also highly encouraged to apply.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong financial modeling and valuation capabilities, including DCF, comparable company, precedent transaction and accretion/dilution analyses.
  • Familiarity with the transportation, logistics, or supply chain tech sectors, including market dynamics and trends.
  • Corporate development, corporate strategy, investment banking, private equity, venture capital, and/or management consulting experience is a plus.
  • Strong deal structuring and negotiation experience, including review of legal documents such as investment agreements and merger agreements
  • Industry competitive intelligence experience
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication, with the ability to influence stakeholders and collaborate across teams.
  • Proven leadership in cross-functional settings with a track record of driving results.
  • Strategic thinking and critical problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to synthesize complex strategic and financial concepts and details into an executive-level narrative.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Additional Details: The desired location for this position would be Memphis, TN. Employees will be required to work at the FedEx location five days a week. This position may be eligible for relocation. Position not eligible for sponsorship.
