SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Content Strategist is responsible for one or more core content areas; builds subject matter expertise in order to develop or tailor messaging, content plans and strategies, and drive engagement; continuously improves AAFP content through audits, measurement, optimization and process improvement. As a member of the Integrated Marketing Communication team, the Content Strategist:

  • Collaborates with editors, writers, designers and marketers to produce and distribute engaging content. Routinely audit content and identify areas for improvement.
  • Builds schedules, ensure deliverables are met, measure effectiveness, and share insights and best practices.
  • Delivers member value through resources, education and connection; help drive organizational revenue by driving member value and thereby member retention.

Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's degree (or through equivalent work experience) in communications, marketing, English, or related area, plus a minimum of four years of related work experience.

Required skills for success include:

  • Demonstrated success in working with editorial plans and working within content strategy frameworks
  • SEO applications experience in a professional capacity
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Basic understanding of web analytics.

Preferred Skills:

Publishing experience in digital channels, including principles of information architecture, componentized content management systems, syndication, SEO best practices and GEO/AEO best practices.
