The Role

An exceptional opportunity to join a growing team and an inspiring brand. The Content Editor role will suit a whip-smart, experienced writer and editor with a deep grasp of technology, business and global trends. Fluent in the world and ideas of WIRED, the ideal candidate will bring at least five years' experience producing rigorously researched, thought-provoking content that delivers results.
In this role, you will work closely with our Director of Content, Consultants and external clients to drive thought-leading work from insight to execution-leading on research, commissioning, editing and production, and serving as a writer where required. You will ensure every project is rigorously on-brand, creatively executed and aligned to client objectives.

The role will suit a curious and motivated team player with an interest in creating thought-leading content that shines a light on today's business challenges. The successful candidate will have a passion for digging into complex issues and a thirst for learning about trends. They will have a proven ability to create stand-out, business-focussed content that is second to none.

You will work closely with WIRED Consulting's Director of Content to support the growth and development of our team and our clients. Critically, you will be instrumental in taking our research, content production and commercial outputs to the next level.

What will you be doing?

Supporting our Director of Content and Consultants to produce fantastically written, on-brand, thought leadership content that delivers ROI for our clients

  • Working with external clients and internal project leads to understand client objectives and ensure narratives are crafted accordingly.

  • Researching, generating ideas, creating synopses, booking interviews, working with writers on drafts and editing copy, and shepherding projects through the production process.

  • Where required, writing content yourself.

  • Working with design teams and project leads to create design briefs that ensure that content is brought to life through appropriately scoped illustrations that support the narrative.

  • Supporting video storyboarding and script-writing.

  • Being ruthless about deadlines.

  • Having an unfailing focus on delivering excellent outputs that WIRED Consulting can be proud of and thinking creatively about how we can take these to the next level.

Building our capabilities and expanding our networks

  • Continually building knowledge around 'all things WIRED' through reading, events and other knowledge-building activities. Helping us continue developing expertise and ensure we remain a centre of excellence across a range of key topics.

  • Distilling and sharing this knowledge with the team.

  • Building and quality assuring our external pool of trusted writers and editorial researchers.

About you

  • Proven track record of delivering excellent high quality content

  • 5+ years experience of producing high-quality, thought-provoking content that requires little editing and engages audiences

  • Experience of producing content that explores bigger-picture themes and trends that are relevant to businesses.

  • Significant experience of the full gamut of editorial processes, from research and commissioning to editing and production

  • Track record of working well with writers and getting the best out of them

  • Plenty of experience helping long articles to become the best version of themselves.

  • An outcomes-centric attitude: a tenacious problem solver with a knack for finding answers and making things happen

  • Energy, passion and enthusiasm for winning business and delivering on ambitious goals.
