Job description

Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani, a national law firm with offices in all 50 states, is seeking an experienced Consumer Protection Attorney to assist with litigation matters on an hourly basis in its Chicago office. Ideal candidates will have experience handling cases under statutes such as the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), class actions, state consumer fraud statutes, and related consumer protection laws.
This position offers flexible hours and may be performed remotely. Attorneys will work closely with our litigation team on all phases of case development and defense.

Candidates must be licensed and admitted to practice in Illinois.
Responsibilities:

  • Draft answers, motions to dismiss, motions to compel arbitration, motions for summary judgment, mediation statements, and motions to compel discovery.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda.
  • Manage discovery, including written discovery and document review.
  • Take and defend depositions periodically.
  • Participate in settlement negotiations and mediations.
  • Prepare cases for dispositive motions.
  • Communicate with clients regarding case status and strategy.
  • Analyze consumer protection claims under federal and state law.


Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Active license and good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • Preferred minimum of 3 years of litigation experience.
  • Experience with FCRA, FDCPA, consumer fraud, or related consumer protection matters preferred.
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and advocacy skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage deadlines.
  • Federal court litigation experience is a plus.

For this role, we are seeking an attorney with 3-7 years of experience. The pay range for this role is: $63.56-85.34 per hour. Actual compensation is tailored to each individual and may vary based on factors such as experience, skills, practice area, business generation, work arrangement, and geographic market.
