Construction Technical Writer
Fully Remote
Expected Salary Range: $90,000 - $105,000 per year

The Construction Technical Writer will write detailed, compliant, and persuasive proposals for construction projects at mission critical facilities. The Construction Technical Writer will collaborate closely with project managers, estimators, and engineers to create comprehensive, competitive proposal narratives that accurately reflect the scope of work, schedule, assumptions, and exclusions of a construction solution to a customer's requirements. The Construction Technical Writer will create clear, compelling proposals that not only meet client expectations but also highlight the company's strengths, capabilities, and unique value propositions. In addition to writing proposal narratives, the Construction Technical Writer will complete forms, questionnaires, and other documents required by each project solicitation.
Duties and Responsibilities / Essential Functions
  • Write high-quality technical proposals for construction projects, including RFP responses, quotes, bids, and prequalification submissions.
  • Create clear, concise, and accurate written technical content that addresses the customer's technical requirements and specifications, including through technical research and collaboration with engineers, purchasers, and subject matter experts.
  • Develop detailed scopes of work, project execution plans, technical methodologies, and resource plans, as parts of proposals.
  • Integrate cost estimates and project schedules into a proposal, ensuring alignment with technical solutions.
  • Review and edit proposals for clarity, correctness, and consistency, ensuring that a proposal complies with client specifications and company standards.
  • Ensure that technical content meets applicable regulations, safety standards, and environmental guidelines.
  • Organize, maintain, and update proposal templates and technical documentation for future use.
  • Participate in internal proposal reviews and respond to feedback to improve proposal content.
  • Present proposal content to customers, business partners, and external stakeholders.

Skills and Specifications
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of construction processes, methodologies, materials, regulations, and safety standards for both fixed and modular construction.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position does not require the supervision of direct reports.
Work Environment
This position operates in a professional office using standard office equipment, in warehouses, and on construction sites using standard tools of the trade.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to work for prolonged periods of time sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Lifting of up to 25 lbs. may occur.
Position Type / Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time, salaried, exempt position. Standard days and hours are 40 hours per week, with weekends and extended hours as needed. Ability to work flexible hours including nights, holidays, and weekends is required based on business needs.
Travel
Occasional travel to CONUS company facilities will be necessary from time to time.
Required Education and Experience
  • Associate's degree in construction management, technical communication, engineering, architecture or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience creating construction proposals and related documents.
  • At least 2 years experience with proposal writing for federal contract opportunities.

Work Authorization / Security Clearance
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a federal government security clearance.
  • Must be authorized to work in the US.
  • Must successfully pass pre-employment (post offer) background check.
  • Must successfully pass pre-employment (post offer) drug test and motor vehicle record review.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to travel within the Continental United States (CONUS), including by plane.
