TITLE: Bakery Operator

LOCATION: Onsite in Scarborough, ON

SHIFT & HOURS: Rotating Shift (days, afternoons & nights)

Hiring Hourly Rate: $24.91 per hour (plus applicable premium)

Griffith Foods is hiring a Bakery Operator to support the safe and efficient operation of bakery production lines, ensuring product quality, food safety, and production targets are achieved while maintaining GMP and HACCP standards.

As a Bakery Operator, your responsibilities will include:

  • Setting up bakery production lines and preparing equipment for start-up and production runs.
  • Monitoring the manufacturing process, making adjustments as required, and communicating changes to team members.
  • Performing quality assurance checks, recording results, and consulting with leadership on product approvals.
  • Assembling pallet trays, palletizing finished products, and safely moving materials using forklift equipment.
  • Assisting with equipment assembly, disassembly, troubleshooting, and reporting equipment concerns.
  • Completing product changeovers, line clean-ups, and maintaining an inspection-ready work area.
  • Recording bag weights, raw material usage, and production documentation accurately and timely.
  • Collecting required samples and ensuring magnets and bacteriological testing procedures are followed.
  • Adhere to all safety, GMP, HACCP, and food safety standards while collaborating with Scheduling and cross-functional teams to meet production schedules.

Qualified candidates must have:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to lift and/or carry up to25kg
  • Basic mathematical foundations
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently, including comprehension of instructions, correspondence, and memos, and the ability to communicate effectively.
  • Flexibility to work rotating shifts, including days, afternoons, nights, weekends, and overtime as needed.
  • Strong computer literacy and data entry skills.

What will set you apart:

  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Previous forklift operating experience or certification.
  • Flexibility to work across different departments based on operational and business needs.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including DAX, FIX, Redzone, and Microsoft Office applications.

This is a safety sensitive position, and it requires the use of an N9 NIOSH-approved fitted respirator ("N95") or an approved alternative. Successful candidates will be required to go through appropriate fit-testing and will be required to wear an N95 while performing their duties.
