Job Description

In the role of Junior CAD Designer, Bridges, you will support the team in Kingston, ON, Canada ,of engineers and senior technicians based in producing accurate and high-quality technical drawings and models for bridge and structural projects. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and eager to develop their technical skills in a collaborative engineering environment.

  • Prepare 2D drawings and 3D models of bridge structures, components, and details using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, or Revit (as applicable).
  • Assist in the preparation of general arrangement drawings, reinforcement details, and construction documentation.
  • Work closely with engineers to interpret design concepts, sketches, and mark-ups.
  • Ensure all drawings comply with company drafting standards, quality procedures, and client requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of drawing revisions and document control.
  • Contribute to the development of BIM models and coordinate with other disciplines.
  • Support the preparation of quantity take-offs and design presentations when required.
  • Participate in project meetings and provide drafting-related input.
  • Providing design support on bridge transportation projects and becoming familiarized with client Standards.
  • Collaborating with design teams within other operating locations in Ontario.
Qualifications
  • Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, Drafting, or a related discipline.
  • 1–3 years of experience in CAD drafting within the civil, structural, or infrastructure sector (bridge experience preferred).
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD (and/or MicroStation or Revit).
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in drawing production.
  • Good understanding of engineering drawings and basic structural principles.
  • Ability to work under supervision and meet project deadlines.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
