Job description

GAI Consultants is seeking a CAD Operator for our Indiana Transportation Team. This is an entry-level position. This position will be involved in all aspects of CAD for support of Transportation design projects and work out of our Fishers office.
This position requires working with engineering and other technical subject matter experts in all aspects of bridge design services. The successful candidate will perform CAD work of red-lined engineering markups for various transportation and bridge related projects as well as project support working under engineering supervision.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Utilizing CAD software to open, revise, plot, and save CAD drawing files.
  • Taking engineering designs and assisting in producing a full set of construction plans including title sheets, detail sheets, layout, plan and profile, general plan, maintenance of traffic, and cross-sections
  • Learning and helping to find ways to improve GAI Engineering CAD Standards.
  • Effective communication with the project team
  • Working in a team environment with other CAD staff and engineers
  • Review and correct own work for Quality Control Purposes
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications- Preferred
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD or Bentley OpenRoads Designer.
  • Some knowledge of construction drawings
  • Strong technical knowledge of Microsoft Office products
  • Able to navigate computer applications quickly
  • Ability to learn and comprehend workflows
  • Ability to work independently and with a team

General Characteristics
  • Able to identify inconsistencies in drawings and communicate these issues of concern to his or her supervisor
  • Able to take and follow verbal instruction

Minimum Years of Experience
  • 1+ Years of Experience

Education
  • Associate Degree from an accredited Technical School

Technical Responsibilities
  • Basic 2-D line work and text edits. Plot and create PDF drawings. Perform red-line edits. Follows basic QA/QC procedures. Assist with general office function such as printing and folding drawings

Project and Task Management
  • Responsible for personal task management and adherence to deadlines and scope

Management Responsibility
  • No Management responsibilities.
  • More independent completion of work assignments

Communication Skills
  • Possess basic oral and written communication skills. interacts effectively with other staff. Learns to master and accurately follow instructions from others
