Job description

Description

This position is responsible for overseeing the development and success of the Computer Networking and Cybersecurity program and the Bachelor of Science in Information Systems program. The primary goal of this position is to manage and advance each program's curriculum, its faculty, and student success outcomes. This position is an excellent opportunity to join an established and growing institution in a leadership capacity.

ResponsibilitiesFaculty Oversight & Leadership
  • Recruit, evaluate, retain, mentor, and engage faculty to ensure there are sufficient and qualified instructors for all courses falling under the scope of both programs.
  • Routinely assess faculty performance and provide guidance and plans for improvement.
  • Develop and execute faculty development programs, including onboarding for new faculty.
  • Hold regular meetings with faculty to review relevant policies, procedures, and initiatives.
Program Oversight & Leadership
  • Develop and foster a vision for the growth and improvement of both programs in order to adapt to the needs of the industry and achieve their stated goals.
  • Maintain, modify, and improve the overall program design, including curriculum, lesson plans, syllabi, textbooks, labs, projects, and learning resources.
  • Develop learning outcomes and methods for assessing the effectiveness of each course in the programs.
  • Conduct program evaluations and routinely develop and execute plans to address areas for improvement.
  • Report on each program's performance measures and the statuses of active improvement projects.
  • Promote both programs through collaboration with administration to ensure there are sufficient and qualified student cohorts.
  • Work effectively with administration to ensure completion and placement rates are within required thresholds.
  • Support the regular upkeep of classrooms and lab spaces used by both programs.
  • Lead the programs' internal and external accreditation and assessment requirements.
  • Host Program Advisory Committee (PAC) meetings as required.
  • Manage course scheduling and faculty assignments each term.
Teaching & Administrative Responsibilities
  • Instruct courses as needed through effective teaching strategies that promote student engagement and motivation.
  • Develop lesson plans and assessments appropriate to the learning objectives of instructed courses.
  • Engage in corrective action to address student, faculty, and staff concerns.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the school president.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, or a closely related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 4 years of professional experience in networking, cybersecurity, or a related IT discipline.
  • Relevant industry certifications such as CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, CISSP, or CCNA are strongly preferred.
  • Teaching experience at an accredited college or university is highly preferred, but not required.
  • Leadership capabilities with the ability to problem solve, facilitate meetings, maintain flexibility, and see projects through to completion.
  • Ability to handle multiple responsibilities and manage projects effectively.
  • Ability to work independently.
Work Schedule

This is a salaried position available in a 40-hour per week or 30-hour per week configuration. The 40-hour schedule requires a minimum of 32 on-site hours per week; the 30-hour schedule requires a minimum of 24 on-site hours per week. The 30-hour configuration carries a reduced program chair scope, which will be discussed during the hiring process.

SCIT courses are offered in the evenings, typically beginning at 5:00 PM and running through 9:00 PM, Monday through Thursday. Some courses are delivered in-person and others online. The candidate must be available for in-person instruction and on-site responsibilities based on course schedules and institutional needs.

  • Paid Sick Leave: 40 hours per calendar year.
  • Paid Vacation: 40 hours in the first year; 80 hours annually from the second year onward, accrued each term.
  • Paid Holidays: 8 paid holidays per calendar year.
  • Health Insurance: PPO and HMO plan options with a portion of monthly premiums ($400/month) covered by SCIT.
  • 401(k): Eligible to participate after one year of employment and 1,000 hours of service.
