Job description

OverviewSummary/Objective

The Solutions Specialist IV is a staff position that works closely with Project Managers to develop in-depth technical plans to accomplish a stated project, company, or client goal.

ResponsibilitiesEssential Functions

  • Collaborate closely with Project Managers to plan and coordinate successful delivery of various company projects, including but not limited to new client installations, existing client upgrades, internal service enhancements, and process definition and implementation.
  • Configure and deploy secure site-to-site and remote-access VPN solutions in alignment with BankOnIT's standardized network architecture and security frameworks.
  • Implement and support Layer 1-3 networking including structured cabling validation, switching (VLANs, trunking), routing (static and dynamic), and TCP/IP configuration.
  • Provision routers, switches, and firewalls according to BankOnIT's standardized configurations, templates, and change management procedures.
  • Maintain consistent network builds across client environments to ensure reliability, scalability, and regulatory compliance within financial institutions.
  • Troubleshoot physical Layer 1, data link Layer 2, and network layer Layer 3 issues using systematic diagnostic methodologies.
  • Configure and manage core services including NAT, DHCP, DNS, and secure segmentation practices (ACLs, VLAN isolation).
  • Ensure that technical plans are properly tracked by monitoring associated tickets and updating them frequently.
  • Liaise with client executives to understand their technical problems and pain points and use this information to develop implementation plans with clear steps to migrate clients from their existing setup to BankOnIT Bankers Private Cloud.
  • Adhere to defined procedures, policies, and templates to plan recurring projects.
  • Monitor real-time events and multitask between various concurrent activities.
  • Escalate sensitive or complex planning problems to management.
  • Perform any other related work as required.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibility, though management of technical plans often includes coaching or guiding project team members. 

Work Environment 

This job operates in a professional office environment (both internally/externally) and travels in an automobile (or possibly an airplane). This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, scanners, and copy machines.  This role occasionally operates a company motor vehicle.

Position Type & Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Hours of work and days are variable, but typically Monday through Friday. Project Technicians are expected to be on call at any time to assist with the successful completion of project tasks. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Periodic travel is expected for this position. 

QualificationsRequired Education & Experience
  • Advanced understanding of PC/Server/Network hardware.
  • Advanced understanding of principles and theories of network systems and management.
  • Advanced understanding of Internet technologies and products.
  • At least three years of technical work experience or equivalent education.
  • At least three relevant technical certifications (e.g., A+, Network+, Security+, Server+, MCSA, MCSE, CCNA) or equivalent experience.
  • General Understanding of Microsoft Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Hyper-V, DFS, and backup technologies.
  • Advanced understanding of servers, networking equipment, Layer 2/3 networking devices, and VLAN configuration/setup.
  • A demonstrated propensity towards and proficiency with customer end-user interaction.
Preferred Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's (or higher) degree in MIS, Network Engineering, Computer Science, or related degree.
  • Five or more years of related technical work experience.
  • Five or more relevant technical certifications (e.g., Network+, Security+, Server+, CCNA, and CCNP).
  • General understanding of expectations and implementing clients under the BankOnIT Bankers Private Cloud model.
