Job description

A&M Technologies, Inc. has an opening for a Tier II /Configuration Management Network Technician Primary roles: to support the customer's computer data communications systems, in providing design specifications, testing and inspections for computer networks; plan and implementing upgrades; analyzing, organizing, and troubleshooting corresponding hardware and software combined solutions through network modeling. Expected to create detailed technical drawings or plans for IT networks, function as support developer and draft engineering designs and drawings from preliminary design concepts. This is an excellent opportunity to develop in one of the key engineering organizations supporting deployment of new, innovative, and challenging technologies.
The job duties of the Tier II /Configuration Management Network Technician are as follows:
  • Support the installation and maintenance of the client LAN/WAN devices.
  • Create and maintain an up-to-date record of all system components (hardware and software). Illustrate physical locations and links between each item.
  • Respond to and resolve incident tickets.
  • Establish and maintain consistency of a system or product performance, functions, and physical attributes with its requirements, design, and operational information.
  • Draft and implement standard network change requests.
  • Coordinate with external Configuration Management stakeholders across the ecosystem where required.
  • Coordinate network operations, maintenance, repairs, or upgrades. (Knowledge of CISCO/Juniper RMA process).
  • Layer 1 and Layer 2 network experience (CAT5, SM/MM Fiber, Serial cables, SFP).
  • Develop policy for documenting and changing baseline project configuration items.
  • Configure and troubleshoot layer 2 switching (VLAN's, Port Security, Thin Configs).
  • Utilize complex network analysis tools to identify and correct problems in the network while maintaining logs and records associated with reported problems or situations.
  • Familiar (doesn't need to be a SME) with Layer 3 protocols such as OSPF, BGP, VRRP, HSRP, MPLS, LSP, GRE. Familiar with Visio, ServiceNow, and Confluence.
  • Support operations from a Configuration Management perspective in their administration of networks including hardware, systems software, applications software, and all configurations.
  • Knowledge of Cisco IOS and Juniper JUNOS OS and familiar with pushing network equipment software codes to devices in preparation of software code upgrades.
  • Maintain the network configuration baselines to ensure it follows DISA STIG guidelines, providing feedback to Network Engineers in their development of new configurations.
  • Documenting and changing baseline project network configuration items.
  • Maintain historical Configuration Management records and requisite knowledge in approved shared databases
  • Provide support to the Configuration Management Board, scheduling meetings, developing agendas, enter board related data in databases, install, maintain and troubleshoot problems for Configuration Control Board action items/issues.
  • Create/provide drawing, diagraming, and network mapping expertise and support to the Configuration Management Team.
  • Manage Configuration Management support to the creation of IT-IA-IM software executables to environments (development, test, staging and production)
  • Utilize complex network analysis tools to identify and build network maps for enterprise level services.
  • Provide support to the Configuration Control Board (CCB), schedule applicable meetings, develop localized agenda and policy, enter Configuration Management related data in databases, install, maintain and troubleshoot problems for CCB Configuration Management items/issues in relation to your AOR.
  • Establish, train, and maintain network drawing standards to serve all contract requirements.
  • Ensure final designs comply with regulations and quality standards.
  • May have up to 10% COMSEC responsibilities

Requirements
Required Clearance: TS/SCI CI
Candidate must have 10 years of experience that can be a combination of work history and education. This equates to a Doctorate and 3 years, master's and 4 years, bachelor's and 6 years, associates and 8 years or HS diploma and 10 years. Required qualifications include the following:
  • Must be compliant with DoD 8140 Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level 2.
