Responsibilities
Peraton's Cyber Mission supports the United States Air Force by delivering mission-critical Cyber professionals who defend our nation's security. Our team of experts provides innovative engineering, logistics, sustainment, and customer support to ensure the functionality of network infrastructure, while addressing the most complex cyber operations and national defense challenges.
Peraton is seeking a Computer Network Defense, Advisor to support our mission to defend and protect our national security.
The Computer Network Defense, Advisor leads defensive cyber operations to protect enterprise networks from advanced threats. They provide expert guidance on incident response, threat hunting, and security improvements to ensure mission systems remain secure and resilient.
Responsibilities may include:
The Computer Network Defense, Advisor will be responsible for the following, but not limited to:
  • Lead computer network defense operations including monitoring, detection, and response to cyber threats.
  • Coordinate incident response activities and ensure timely resolution of security events.
  • Advise leadership on network defense strategies, tools, and process improvements.
  • Oversee implementation of intrusion detection, prevention, and analysis tools.
  • Conduct threat hunting activities to proactively identify and mitigate risks.
  • Develop and maintain incident response plans, playbooks, and standard operating procedures.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree with 8 years of experience OR a Master's degree with 6 years of experience
  • US Citizenship and a current active TOP SECRET Clearance with SCI.
  • Must comply with DoD 8140/DCWF Work Role 652 requirements, including holding an approved baseline certification and meeting all KSAs for independent security control validation under RMF.
  • Demonstrated experience leading computer network defense operations in enterprise environments.
  • Strong background in incident detection, analysis, and coordinated response.
  • Proficiency with intrusion detection and prevention systems, SIEM tools, and network monitoring solutions.
  • Ability to conduct proactive threat hunting using network and endpoint data sources.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Professional certifications such as GCIA, GCIH, CEH, or CySA+.
  • Experience supporting DoD or federal government cyber defense missions.
  • Familiarity with advanced persistent threat (APT) tactics, techniques, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of zero trust security models and their application to network defense.

Target Salary Range
$104,000 - $166,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
