JOB SUMMARY
The Campus Monitor observes and supports students during lunch and passing breaks to ensure a safe, secure and comfortable environment conducive to student interaction and learning.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Ongoing Activities
  • Supervise students during lunch/recess and passing periods, including enforcing school rules school boundaries, and school behavior expectations
  • Ensure a safe environment in the lunchroom, school grounds and parking lot
  • Work with other school staff to ensure sufficient level of supervision coverage in all areas of the lunch room, school yards and parking lot
  • Help mediate and resolve conflicts between students
  • Administer first aid as needed
  • Manage computer logs and complete accident reports
  • Help keep the campus clean
  • Identify any major security or safety hazards and major repair needs in the recess area and ensure safety rules are followed

Additional:
  • Demonstrate knowledge of, and support, the Aspire Public Schools mission, vision, value statements including antiracism, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behavior
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned

QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Competencies:
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Good problem solving ability; sound judgment
  • Ability to interact appropriately with children of all ages
  • Bilingual - Spanish and English (strongly preferred).
  • Computer skills

  1. Minimum educational level:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • First Aid and valid CPR training

  1. Experience required:
  • 1+ years experience observing and supervising K-12 students preferred
  • Ongoing behavior management and de-escalation training

  1. Physical requirements:
  • Stand, walk or bend over, kneel, crouch, reach overhead, grasp, push, and pull. Move, lift and/or carry up to 30 pounds to shoulder height
  • Repetitive use of hands (i.e. fine manipulation, simple grasping, and power grasping)
  • Demonstrate normal depth perception
  • Sitting, walking or standing for extended periods of time
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, operate standard office equipment, and use a telephone
  • See and read a computer screen and printed matter with or without vision aids
  • Hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone with or without auditory aides

  1. Work authorization requirements:
  • Clear the Department of Justice background screening
  • Authorized to work in the United States
  • Provide health (TB) clearance (most update every four years)
