The Opportunity:

In this role, you will report to the Territory Area Manager and will work closely with the Avantor's Advanced Laboratory Services professionals to serve our customers by performing customized, mission-based lab work and research protocols that help return time back to science.

Location: Waltham, MA, with a future relocation to Cambridge, MA, mid-2026.

Shift: Monday - Friday, Mon - Fri, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm

Hourly pay range: $25 - $29

What we're looking for

Education:

  • High school diploma or GED required

  • Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Chemistry, Biology, or a related field, or equivalent experience

Experience:

  • Experience in laboratory operations, sample management, or compound handling preferred

  • Familiarity with laboratory systems, automation platforms, and inventory tracking tools

Technical Skills:

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs

  • Previous experience in a GMP-regulated facility strongly desired

Avantor's Advanced Laboratory Services team is a crucial part of the Avantor Services group serving over 500 customers in biopharma, pharmaceutical, educational, industrial, and high-tech industries with customizable, flexible solutions and end-to-end laboratory operations support. In this role you will:

  • Coordinate daily intake, preparation, and shipment of compound samples (solid and liquid), ensuring accuracy and timely delivery to support research activities.

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for sample-related requests, managing workflows, and providing timely updates to internal teams and collaborators.

  • Maintain accurate compound inventory records, including labeling, documentation, and system updates, to ensure full traceability throughout the sample lifecycle.

  • Utilize laboratory automation tools and informatics systems to execute workflows, including liquid handling and compound storage technologies.

  • Partner with onsite and global teams to align priorities, coordinate activities, and ensure consistent execution of sample management operations.

  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve workflow efficiency, turnaround times, and overall service delivery.

  • Perform all activities in accordance with safety, quality, and operational standards, ensuring adherence to best practices and regulatory requirements.

Pay Transparency:

The expected pre-tax pay for this position is

$50,000.00 - $80,500.00

Actual pay may differ depending on relevant factors such as prior experience and geographic location.
