The Role
The Director, Internal Communications will lead enterprise internal communications strategy and employee engagement initiatives across QuidelOrtho's global organization. This role is responsible for helping employees understand the company's strategy, priorities, culture, and transformation journey through clear, aligned, and impactful communications.
Reporting into Global Brand & Strategic Communications function, this leader will partner closely with executive leadership, Human Resources, Legal, Investor Relations, regional teams, and functional leaders to strengthen organizational alignment, leadership visibility, employee engagement, and communication effectiveness across a complex global business. The ideal candidate brings a blend of strategic thinking, executive communications expertise, change management capability, and operational execution.
Additionally, this role requires a strategic communicator with strong business acumen, executive presence, and experience operating within dynamic, fast paced, matrixed, publicly traded organizations.
This position is hybrid, with a strong preference for candidates who reside near our offices in Rochester, NY; San Diego, CA or Raritan, New Jersey
The Responsibilities
Enterprise Internal Communications Strategy
  • Develop and execute the company's internal communications strategy aligned to enterprise priorities and business objectives
  • Create scalable communications frameworks, governance, and operating rhythms across the organization
  • Ensure messaging consistency and alignment globally while enabling regional and functional relevance
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to leaders on employee communications and organizational messaging

Executive & Leadership Communications
  • Support executive leadership communications, including messaging for the CEO, ELT, and senior leaders
  • Develop leadership communications including talking points, organizational updates, leadership cascades, presentations, and employee messaging
  • Help strengthen leadership visibility, communication effectiveness, and organizational alignment

Change & Transformation Communications
  • Lead communication strategies supporting organizational change, transformation initiatives, integrations, operating model evolution, and enterprise priorities
  • Develop change communication plans, playbooks, stakeholder messaging, FAQs, manager toolkits, and communication cascades
  • Partner cross-functionally to ensure employees receive timely, clear, and transparent communications during periods of change

Employee Engagement & Culture Communications
  • Support employee engagement initiatives and culture-building efforts across the enterprise
  • Partner with HR and leadership teams on employee listening, recognition, and engagement programs
  • Help foster stronger connection, trust, and alignment across the organization

Global Communications & Channel Management
  • Oversee enterprise internal communication channels and editorial planning, including intranet content, enterprise announcements, leadership communications, and employee campaigns
  • Support enterprise-wide meetings and events including Global Town Halls and leadership forums
  • Drive improvements in channel effectiveness, content governance, and employee experience

Measurement & Insights
  • Develop and track internal communications KPIs and effectiveness metrics
  • Analyze employee feedback, engagement data, and communication performance to inform continuous improvement
  • Provide strategic recommendations based on insights and organizational needs
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

The Individual
Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or related field
  • 10+ years of experience in internal communications, corporate communications, executive communications, or related disciplines
  • Experience supporting executive leadership within complex, matrixed, global organizations
  • Experience leading communications during organizational change and transformation initiatives
  • Strong writing, messaging, storytelling, and presentation development capabilities
  • Experience working cross-functionally with HR, Legal, Investor Relations, and executive leadership teams
  • Strong project management and stakeholder management skills
  • Strategic thinker with strong business and organizational acumen
  • Executive presence and ability to influence senior leaders
  • Strong judgment and ability to navigate sensitive communications
  • Ability to simplify complex topics into clear, compelling messaging
  • Collaborative and relationship-oriented leadership style
  • Highly organized with strong prioritization and execution capabilities
  • Adaptable and comfortable operating in fast-paced, evolving environments

  • Experience within healthcare, diagnostics, life sciences, medical device, or regulated industries preferred

Physical Demands

Salary Transparency
The salary range for this position takes into account a wide range of factors including education, experience, knowledge, skills, geography, and abilities of the candidate, in addition to internal equity and alignment with market data. At QuidelOrtho, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The salary range for this position is $180,233.20 - $220,000 and is bonus eligible. QuidelOrtho offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, along with a 401(k) plan, employee assistance program, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, paid time off (including sick time), and paid Holidays. All benefits are non-contractual, and QuidelOrtho may amend, terminate, or enhance the benefits provided, as it deems appropriate.
