Job description

Job Title: Communications Operator

Location: Monmouth Medical Center

Department Name: IT&S Telecommunications

Status: Hourly

Shift: Evening

Pay Range: $17.12 - $19.06 per hour

The above reflects the anticipated hourly wage range for this position if hired to work in New Jersey.

The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Job Overview:

The Communications Operator relays incoming and outgoing calls to the hospital, monitors operations of telephone and paging systems, and ensures that telephone equipment is in good, working order.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High school diploma required

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with switchboard communications and medical terminology
  • Experience in acute care and / or ambulatory care environment
  • Prior switchboard experience and knowledge of Microsoft applications

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Per Diem
  • Evening Shift

Essential Functions:

  • Monitors emergency alarms, communicates medical and other information to authorized recipients
  • Operates the paging system, sound alarms, and announce medical codes / disasters / other emergencies in accordance with institutional policies
  • Works collaboratively on Performance Improvement initiatives to better the Communications Department for the Organization
