Job description

Role Overview
The Fire and Security Sales Consultant is responsible for driving strategic growth within the commercial fire and life safety market by developing new client relationships, identifying project opportunities, and delivering customized fire protection solutions. This role is ideal for a consultative sales professional who thrives in a relationship-driven environment and is motivated by business development, technical problem-solving, and long-term client partnership building.
The successful candidate will work closely with General Contractors, Electrical Contractors, property stakeholders, and end users across the Chicagoland market to support new construction, retrofit, and expansion projects. This position offers the opportunity to represent an established industry leader while leveraging advanced fire and security technologies in a highly visible, growth-oriented sales role.
Key Responsibilities
  • Identify, develop, and secure new business opportunities within the commercial fire and life safety sector.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with General Contractors, Electrical Contractors, developers, and end users to establish long-term strategic partnerships.
  • Prospect and manage new construction, retrofit, and bid-based project opportunities throughout the Chicagoland market.
  • Conduct detailed assessments of client fire protection and life safety needs and recommend tailored solutions aligned with applicable codes and operational requirements.
  • Prepare and present professional proposals, system recommendations, and solution-based sales presentations.
  • Utilize bid management software and industry resources to identify and track project opportunities.
  • Participate in industry associations, networking groups, and market events to strengthen brand presence and expand business relationships.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of evolving fire codes, emerging technologies, competitive offerings, and market trends.
  • Achieve and exceed established sales and revenue objectives through disciplined pipeline management and strategic prospecting efforts.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, engineering, project management, and service teams to ensure successful project execution and client satisfaction.
  • Deliver a high level of professionalism, responsiveness, and customer service throughout the sales lifecycle.
  • Obtain and maintain NICET certification requirements, including NICET Level II certification if not already achieved.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required; additional technical or business education preferred.
  • 3+ years of outside sales experience preferred, ideally within fire alarm, low voltage, life safety, or commercial construction environments.
  • Experience working with General Contractors, Electrical Contractors, or bid-specification environments strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop business relationships and generate new revenue opportunities.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and consultative selling skills.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and capable of managing multiple opportunities simultaneously.
  • Valid Driver's License required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an Illinois Department of Labor PERC Card, which includes successful completion of a background check.
Compensation
$110,000 - $200,000+ On-Target Earnings (OTE), including base salary and performance-based incentives.
