Commercial print modeling involves posing for advertisements, catalogs, magazines, product packaging, and other printed materials used in marketing. Unlike high-fashion modeling, commercial print models represent everyday people and come in a variety of ages, sizes, and ethnicities. The focus is on conveying a relatable and appealing image that aligns with a brand or product. These jobs can be found in industries like fashion, healthcare, lifestyle, and retail. No strict height or size requirements make it an accessible option for many aspiring models.

What are typical daily responsibilities for a commercial print model?

Commercial print models often participate in photo shoots for advertising campaigns, product packaging, catalogs, or editorial features, requiring them to embody specific looks or lifestyles as directed by clients and photographers. Day-to-day tasks may include attending casting calls, preparing and updating portfolios, working with stylists and makeup artists, and adjusting quickly to creative direction during shoots. Models also need to maintain a professional appearance and punctuality, while keeping up with the latest industry trends and looks. Collaboration is at the heart of the role, as models frequently work with creative teams to achieve the desired vision for each project.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in commercial print modeling?

To thrive in Commercial Print Modeling, you need professionalism, photogenic qualities, and the ability to pose naturally in front of the camera, often demonstrated through a varied portfolio of work. Familiarity with casting processes, comp cards, and sometimes agency representation is important in navigating the industry. Strong communication, adaptability, and reliability are key soft skills that help build positive relationships with clients, photographers, and creative teams. These qualities are crucial as they ensure models can effectively embody diverse commercial concepts and collaborate efficiently in fast-paced environments.

How do I get into commercial print modeling?

To get into commercial print modeling, build a professional portfolio that showcases your versatility and appearance, and consider signing with a reputable modeling agency. Maintaining good skin, fitness, and a friendly, approachable demeanor can help you secure casting calls for print advertisements and catalogs.

How much do commercial print models get paid?

Commercial print models typically earn between $25 and $250 per hour, depending on factors such as experience, the scope of the campaign, and the client. Rates can also be structured as flat fees for specific projects or usage rights, with higher pay often associated with national campaigns or specialized skills like acting or posing for high-profile brands.

How to get into commercial print modeling?

Job description

Controller – Commercial Print & Direct Mail Operations

Plymouth, MI | Full-Time |

About Us

Allegra Print & Mail / AFB Corporate Operations is a growing commercial printing and direct mail company based in Plymouth, Michigan. We operate a full-service production environment spanning digital and offset print, finishing, and mailing services. We're in an active phase of investment and expansion — including a major equipment platform upgrade and potential acquisition — and we're building the team to match.

The Role

We're looking for a hands-on Controller who is equally comfortable setting financial strategy and rolling up their sleeves to get the work done. This is a working controller position in a lean, high-performing environment — not a supervisory role removed from day-to-day operations. You'll own the accounting function and be a key voice in how the business uses financial data to make decisions.

What You'll Do
  • Own the monthly close process and ensure timely, accurate financial reporting
  • Prepare and present financial statements to ownership and leadership
  • Develop and maintain internal controls, policies, and procedures
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Provide financial analysis that goes beyond reporting — identifying trends, opportunities, and risks
  • Support due diligence and financial modeling related to capital investment and potential acquisitions
  • Manage day-to-day accounting operations including AP, AR, payroll, and reconciliations
  • Work closely with ownership on strategic financial decisions
  • Lead cash management and rolling cash flow forecasting to support the company's financial health and growth objectives
  • Coordinate annual audits, tax filings, and external financial reporting while serving as the primary liaison for auditors and tax advisors.
What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or CMA preferred
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including time in a controller or senior accounting role
  • 3+ years leading accounting teams or accounting functions
  • Experience in manufacturing, printing, or operations-oriented businesses a strong plus
  • Comfortable providing leadership and direction to the department
  • Supportive in the development of the accounting function while remaining actively involved in day-to-day operations
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and financial regulations
  • Analytical mindset — you don't just close the books, you tell the story behind the numbers
  • High integrity, low ego, and a bias toward getting things done
  • Experience with QuickBooks required
Why Join Us

We're a stable, privately held company at an inflection point. The person who takes this role will have direct access to ownership, real influence over how the finance function is built, and a front-row seat to meaningful business growth. Compensation is $110,000–$125,000 depending on experience
