POSITION SUMMARY
The Commercial Banker is responsible for developing, growing, and managing relationships with business clients by delivering commercial lending solutions and comprehensive banking services that support their long-term financial success. Serving as a trusted banking advisor, this role proactively identifies opportunities to originate commercial loans, expand existing relationships, grow deposits, and connect clients with the full range of GreenWay Bank’s products, services, and internal banking partners. The primary duty of this position is the sale and origination of commercial lending and banking solutions through proactive business development, relationship building, referral generation, and direct client sales activities.
As an outside sales position, the Commercial Banker customarily and regularly conducts sales and business development activities away from GreenWay Bank’s offices, including meeting with prospective and existing clients, business owners, executives, referral partners, and other centers of influence at client businesses, professional offices, community and industry events, and other locations throughout the local market. The position also maintains a GreenWay Bank office and performs appropriate client meetings, portfolio management, loan origination, follow-up, administrative, and other responsibilities from the Bank’s offices as needed.
The Commercial Banker serves as the primary relationship manager for business clients, partnering with internal specialists and subject matter experts to deliver comprehensive banking solutions that help businesses succeed while supporting GreenWay Bank’s strategic growth objectives.
Success in this role is achieved through business development, portfolio growth, strong credit quality, exceptional client relationships, collaboration across the Bank, deepening comprehensive banking relationships, and meaningful contributions to GreenWay Bank’s overall growth and community presence.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
  • Develop new commercial banking relationships by identifying, cultivating, and securing lending opportunities through prospecting, referrals, networking, community involvement, and relationship-building activities that contribute to individual and Bank growth objectives.
  • Customarily and regularly engage in commercial banking sales and business development activities away from GreenWay Bank’s offices, including face-to-face meetings with prospective and existing clients, business owners, executives, attorneys, CPAs, financial professionals, community partners, and other centers of influence throughout the local market to develop relationships and generate commercial lending and banking business.
  • Independently plan and manage business development activities, external appointments, client and referral partner meetings, networking activities, and other sales efforts to develop and maintain an active pipeline of commercial banking opportunities.
  • Build, manage, and strengthen a portfolio of business clients by serving as a trusted banking advisor, understanding each client’s goals, and delivering customized commercial lending and banking solutions that create long-term value.
  • Originate, structure, and manage commercial lending opportunities by evaluating clients financing needs, gathering required financial information, recommending appropriate loan structures, and partnering with the Credit Department throughout underwriting, approval, documentation, and closing.
  • Monitor and manage an assigned commercial loan portfolio by maintaining strong client relationships, conducting periodic portfolio reviews, identifying emerging risks, and supporting overall portfolio quality, client retention, and profitability.
  • Deepen comprehensive banking relationships and support overall Bank growth by proactively identifying clients’ broader financial needs and connecting them with appropriate GreenWay Bank products, services, and internal partners, including commercial deposit accounts, consumer checking and savings accounts, treasury and cash management solutions, operating accounts, public funds, certificates of deposit, consumer and auto lending, mortgage and home equity lending, business banking services, and other Bank solutions, while partnering with the Senior Deposit Officer, Portfolio Managers, Business Solutions Specialists, and other internal experts to develop, recommend, and implement comprehensive banking solutions.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Deposit Officer, Portfolio Managers, Business Solutions Specialists, Credit Administration, Retail Banking, Mortgage Lending, Operations, Marketing, and other internal partners to develop comprehensive banking solutions, coordinate implementation, deliver an exceptional client experience, and strengthen long-term client relationships.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of commercial lending products, financial analysis, credit principles, market trends, banking regulations, and industry developments while ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, regulatory requirements, internal policies, and sound risk management practices.
  • Represent GreenWay Bank professionally by actively participating in community organizations, civic activities, business associations, networking events, and economic development initiatives, both within and outside traditional business hours, as appropriate, that strengthen the Bank’s visibility, generate qualified business opportunities, and reinforce GreenWay Bank’s commitment to the communities we serve.
  • Perform other duties, responsibilities, and special projects as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education
    • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field preferred; equivalent commercial banking experience may be considered.
  • Experience
    • Minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in commercial banking, commercial lending, business development, relationship management, or a related financial services role preferred.
    • Demonstrated success in commercial loan origination, business development, portfolio management, and relationship growth.
    • Experience working within a goal-oriented sales and service environment preferred.
  • Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
    • Strong knowledge of commercial lending, business banking products, credit analysis, financial statement analysis, cash flow analysis, and commercial loan structures.
    • Ability to interpret business financial statements, tax returns, cash flow projections, and other financial information to identify appropriate financing solutions.
    • Strong business development, networking, and relationship management skills with the ability to generate new business opportunities and expand existing client relationships.
    • Ability and willingness to customarily and regularly conduct sales, client development, and relationship-building activities away from GreenWay Bank’s offices throughout the local market.
    • Excellent communication, negotiation, presentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to build credibility and serve as a trusted banking advisor to business clients.
    • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple client relationships, priorities, and deadlines.
    • Ability to exercise sound judgment while balancing client needs, credit quality, and risk management objectives.
    • Proficiency with commercial lending systems, customer relationship management (CRM) platforms, Microsoft Office Suite, and other banking technology.
