The Collections Officer I supports the Credit Union's goals, values and philosophy by exhibiting the following behaviors: excellence, quality member service, commitment and accountability. As a member of the Credit Union's Collections team, performance includes demonstration of the following accountabilities: communication, job knowledge and quality member service.
Job Responsibilities:
- Reviews status of delinquent loan accounts between 15-29 days delinquent. Communicates verbally and in writing with members to effect collection of past due loans; traces members who attempt to avoid obligation; maintains accurate records and documentation of contact.
- Responsible for the collection of negative balance accounts. Communicates verbally and in writing with members to effect collection of past due accounts; traces members who attempt to avoid obligation; maintains accurate records and documentation of contact.
- Provides support to the Collections Department to assist other employees with any tasks as needed. Performs other tasks requested by supervisor as they relate to the Credit Union and its functions.
Experience - One year to three years of similar or related experience
Education - A high school education or GED.
Interpersonal Skills - Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for the purpose of first-level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation. Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication.
