ABOUT THE ROLE

The Community Association Paralegal/Legal Assistant hybrid role is to provide support to the Attorney and paralegal representing community associations with the filing of substantive legal work, in addition to understanding and complying with the provisions of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, New Jersey Condominium Act and related state laws. If the candidate excels, there is room to progress towards a full-time paralegal position.

RESPONSIBILITIES:   

  • Understand and comply with the provisions of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and related state laws.
  • Record liens and other Association documents with the applicable clerk’s office
  • Mail documents in a timely manner as requested by the paralegal and Attorney.
  • Ensure that filing fees and costs are appropriately expensed.
  • Assist in the preparation and filing of court documents.
  • This role will prepare the legal assistant for a full time collection paralegal position that will include drafting pleadings, collection letters, communicating with clients and supporting the community association practice group.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be proficient in software tools, including but not limited to Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Identifies and solves issues in a timely manner.
  • Must be a team player and willing to help others in their department whenever necessary.
  • Must be extremely organized and able to multi-task.
  • Conscientious with respect to work completion, deadlines, time management, and attendance.
  • Analytical and detail-oriented, while working at a fast pace and capable of multi-tasking.
  • High School Diploma required
  • 2 or more years of experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

·         Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
