Join our team as a Public Safety Systems Business Analyst, where you'll play a crucial role in supporting and enhancing public safety systems for Police, Fire/EMS, E911/Dispatch, and Emergency Management. This position involves both technical and analytical tasks. Additional work assignments may include:
 
Technical Support and Troubleshooting
  • Configure, support, and troubleshoot essential public safety applications like Computer Aided-Dispatch (CAD), Records Management Systems (RMS), mobile and in-car applications, and Next-Generation 911 (NG911).
  • Work with vendors and end users to resolve issues and improve system performance.
  • Assist and coordinate system upgrades, testing, and user training.
System Alignment and Workflow Integration
  • Gain a clear understanding of Police, Fire/EMS, and Dispatch workflows and align systems to better support operational needs.
  • Identify and implement operational and technological enhancements.
Documentation and Reporting
  • Build reports and basic queries to support state and federal reporting.
  • Create documentation, user guides, and training materials.
Project Management and Collaboration
  • Manage small projects and participate in larger technology initiatives.
  • Collaborate with personnel and agencies, exercising initiative and independent judgment.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, Criminal Justice, or a related field.

  • Ability to pass a Police background investigation.
  • Valid Commonwealth of Virginia driver’s license.
  • Strong communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency in programming languages and software tools, including SQL, reporting and GIS-supported systems.
  • Familiarity with public safety technology and cyber security standards.
Note: Because these systems support emergency response, this position may occasionally work during adverse weather or when City offices are closed. CJIS and HIPAA training provided. This is not a remote position.
