Pay Rate Starting at: Level $18.50/ hr Rates of pay are determined by previous experience and labor contract seniority.

SUMMARY

The mission of all Tops associates is to adhere to the Tops vision of providing a friendly neighborhood store that saves the customer time and money. Produce Assistant Manager must possess reasonable knowledge in storing, rotating, preparing, and maintaining produce products, as well as demonstrate competency in inventory control, ordering and receiving product. Strong organizational skills, as well as prioritizing multiple tasks are required. Manager is responsible for setting an example in providing attentive and courteous customer service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Follow all Federal, State, and Local regulations as well as company policies regarding Produce operations, safety, and sanitation
  • Achievement of financial goals such as sales, gross profit maximization, as well as minimization of shrink and supply expense
  • Fulfill weekly orders in accordance with store policy to ensure adequate supply levels
  • Adhere to company policy through proper processing, preparation, packaging, and rotation of product to ensure the freshest produce available for the customers
  • Maintain and enforce a clean as you go work environment to ensure sanitary conditions
  • Complete all necessary paperwork relating to Produce Department (i.e. KLT, SIR380)
  • Ensure proper working condition of produce equipment and proper temperature of coolers
  • Oversee operation of Floral Department (unless there is a floral shop manager) 
  • Selection, training, development and scheduling of produce and floral associates
  • Fulfill customer orders (veggie tray, fruit basket, fruit tray, floral order, etc)
  • Open/close overhead receiving/delivery truck trailer doors; maneuver manual dock plate into place for deliveries.
  • Direct subordinates in implementing plan of action and goal attainment
  • Act as Produce Manager in their absence
  • Minimize shrink through proper handling, rotation and storing of product    
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Must be at least 18 years of age 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Ability to read, write, and perform basic math functions
  • Possess basic computer skills
  • Possess strong communication skills
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Knives (must be at least 16 years of age)
  • Manual pallet jack 
  • Computerized scale
  • Manual wrapping machine
  • Case cutter (must be at least 16 years of age
  • Powered pallet jack (must be 18 years of age)
  • Baler/compactor (must be 18 years of age)
  • Ladder/step stool (must be 18 years of age)
