CNC Mill Operator / CNC Set-Up Technician

Overview

We are seeking CNC Mill Operators and CNC Set-Up Technicians to join our manufacturing team at a Semiconductor Plant in Chandler. This is a 1st Shift position, Monday–Friday from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, with overtime offered daily and optional Saturday shifts.

These opportunities are open to Junior and Senior CNC Operators as well as experienced Set-Up Technicians. Operators will primarily work with CNC milling machines, while Set-Up Technicians will be responsible for machine set-ups, process adjustments, and supporting production teams. Positions are Contract Temp-to-Hire, with full company benefits and a pay increase upon conversion.

Machining Overview

  • CNC Milling Machines (primary focus)
  • Limited use of Lathe and Swiss Screw machines
  • 3-axis, 5-axis, and some 6-axis mill machines
  • Materials: Aluminum, Plastic, and Copper
  • Machines are primarily Hermle (brand experience not required)

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

CNC Mill Operator:

  • Operate and control processes on all products produced on CNC Milling Machines
  • Work under a CNC Set-Up Technician for training, guidance, and mentorship
  • Execute production plans according to manufacturing schedules and work instructions
  • Control product quality per Inspection Plans and maintain quality records
  • Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments
  • Perform daily preventive machine maintenance and manage machine-related supplies
  • Troubleshoot and resolve minor machining issues and assist with basic root cause analysis

CNC Set-Up Technician:

  • Set up and prove out CNC milling machines for production
  • Adjust tooling, fixtures, offsets, feeds, and speeds
  • Support operators with training, troubleshooting, and process improvements
  • Ensure parts meet blueprint and inspection requirements
  • Assist with root cause analysis and continuous improvement efforts
  • Maintain documentation, quality records, and machine readiness

Minimum Qualification Requirements

CNC Set-Up Technician:

  • 2–5+ years of CNC milling experience, including machine set-ups
  • Strong blueprint reading and process control skills

Senior CNC Mill Operator:

  • 2–5 years of experience operating CNC milling machines

Junior CNC Mill Operator:

  • 6 months–2 years experience in a machine shop (including helper roles), OR
  • Recent graduate or currently enrolled in a vocational CNC machining program

For All Candidates:

  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, customer drawings, SOPs, and work instructions in English
  • Basic understanding of GD&T (preferred but not required for Operators)
  • Knowledge of machine shop theory, terminology, and procedures
  • Basic math skills for measurements and calculations
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Willingness to work overtime when needed
