Job description

SUMMARY
This position will provide sales support to sales engineers, regional managers and the Makino Distribution Network.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES and AUTHORITIES
  • Serve as alternate contact for customers and distributor sales reps when Regional Sales Manager or Direct Sales Engineer is not available.
  • Provide a direct resource for SMQS quotation generation, machine availability, option availability, and shipment information for Regional Sales Managers, Direct Sales Engineers, SST and Distributor Sales (all Makino Sales Channels).
  • Assist with ongoing training of All Sales Channels with Makino quoting software (SMQS3).
  • Support SST and Independent Distributors with training on Makino's processes and support services.
  • Assist Regional Sales Managers and Direct Sales Engineers with Saleslogix functions as needed.
  • Serve as a liaison between sales and engineering to initiate, track and review special options quotations from engineering group, including MMC layouts
  • Assist in planning and facilitation of customer visits to Makino Mason (including plant tours).
  • Serve as a liaison to appropriate contacts in Japan & Singapore for initiating and coordinating special option quotations and information requests.
  • Work closely with marketing, product, and engineering groups to stay abreast of current initiatives, product development, and product changes and communicate these to the sales organization.
  • Assist Regional Managers and Direct Sales Engineers by interfacing with service organization for resolution of open service issues to drive prompt closure.
  • Research technical information for all Makino Sales Channels. This includes (but is not limited to): Engineering Bill of Material, SAP, Metrix, Sales Files, Makino Intranet Sites (worldwide), and SharePoint
  • Help with preliminary and final ODS preparation and submittal.
  • Create HMC/VMC/EDM stock quotes in support of Master Production Scheduler.
  • Mark and maintain Machine Availability List.
  • Confirm lead times of machine and options based on quoting activity for a specific customer inquiry.
  • Attend various sales meetings.

  • Operation/maintenance or other technical experience with CNC machining centers
  • Self-starter, with little need for supervision
  • Analytical, with excellent problem solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong people skills with the ability to work in teams and among the various internal Makino groups.
  • Ability to operate as an advisor to the all Makino Sales Channels, creating/suggesting solutions
  • Attentiveness to mathematical detail
  • Strong ability to prioritize, and operate efficiently amid numerous interruptions
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
  • Understanding of each functional group within Makino
  • Strong desire to learn Makino's products and services.
  • SMQS and SAP experience preferred

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
