Job description

Job Summary: Anew Climate is looking for a proactive and analytical Finance Intern to join our finance team at a market leading decarbonization company. You will gain hands on exposure to corporate and strategic finance, forecasting, and transaction support in a fast growing, mission driven business

Primary Responsibilities and Competencies:

  • Perform monthly and ad-hoc variance analysis, document drivers, prepare concise write-ups, and support automation of recurring variance reports using Excel, Power Bi, and other tools
  • Assist in building and updating project level financial and valuation models; run sensitivity and scenario analyses and summarize results for senior review
  • Design, build, and maintain interactive dashboards for key financial and operational metrics for finance and business stakeholders
  • Reconcile monthly actuals to the budget, investigate material differences, and update dashboards
  • Monitor commodity price trends, produce periodic analyses, and quantify impact
  • Prepare summaries and slide materials for leadership and cross-functional teams; deliver adhoc analyses as requested
  • Document data sources and reporting processes; suggest and implement approved process improvements to reduce manual effort

Required Education, Experience and Certification:

  • Working on a bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, or relevant field
  • Excellent computer skills including a high degree of ability to effectively utilize a variety of internal and external software resources to gather and analyze a wide range of data
  • Strong skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and self-motivation skills with a solution seeking mindset
  • Effective communicator and an ability to work cross-functionally across the organization (i.e., with BD, Operations, Accounting)
  • Proven experience to finish work, projects, and duties as assigned and complete them by strict deadlines
  • Prior professional experience, internships and/or collegiate research a plus
  • Must reside in or be willing to self-relocate to the Houston area for the duration of the internship
