Position Description & Objectives

The Client Relationship Consultant (CRC) helps support organizational growth and provides strategic client direction to existing and new client relationships. This position requires the ability to deliver exceptional, timely client service while effectively and autonomously managing a book of retirement plans. The abilities to learn independently, create positive and authentic relationships, and act as a community leader are essential to your success in this role.

Core Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership to and become fully engaged with both existing and new client relationships
  • Work with established team members to become acquainted with existing clients, ultimately leading to robust account management of client relationships
  • Advocate for and solve day-to-day client concerns
  • Conduct committee, enrollment, financial wellness, and other meetings at regularly-scheduled intervals
  • Manage accounts by responding to client needs, anticipating issues, and proactively providing solutions
  • Effectively implement available resources to resolve a variety of issues with clients. These may include compliance, DOL and IRS audits, ERISA-related guidelines, vendor websites, contract repricing, and/or plan and contract conversions or terminations
  • Promote client retention and identify opportunities to strengthen existing client relationships through timely, high-quality service
  • Cultivate strong partnerships with both clients and vendors
  • Increase Shepherd Financial brand awareness in the retirement marketplace
  • Discover individual rollover opportunities that meet our minimum monetary requirements for wealth management clients


Position Expectations

  • An undergraduate degree and relevant industry designations, including current Qualified 401(k) Administrator (QKA) status (or credential attainment within the first 12 months of employment, per the terms of the Continuing Education Repayment Program)
  • A proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Compliance with Shepherd Financialโ€™s internal policies, including the Work-From-Home Policy and License and Desgination Repayment Program
  • Begin each business day no later than 8:30 am
  • Weekly attendance at the retirement plan team meeting on Mondays at 8:00 am EST
  • Return or acknowledge emails and phone calls from plan sponsors and participants within 24 hours
  • Document all client interactions in Redtail within 24 hours
  • Refer 12 wealth management and or insurance prospects over the course of a year.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary plus incentive-based salary enhancement for new annualized recurring revenue from either retirement plans or wealth management referrals
  • Discretionary year-end performance bonus

  • Cell phone reimbursement: $45 per month


Position Location

This position is based out of our Louisville, KY office, with the opportunity to work 1 day per week from home.
