What does a client experience intern do?

A Client Experience Intern supports the client experience team by assisting with various tasks that enhance customer satisfaction and engagement. This can include conducting research on client needs, gathering feedback, helping resolve client issues, and participating in the development of client-focused initiatives. Interns may also assist in organizing client meetings, preparing reports, and collaborating with other departments to ensure a seamless client journey. The role provides valuable exposure to customer relationship management and the opportunity to develop communication and problem-solving skills.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a client experience intern, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Client Experience Intern, you need strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a background in business, marketing, or a related field. Familiarity with CRM systems, customer feedback tools, and Microsoft Office is typically expected. Exceptional interpersonal skills, a proactive attitude, and the ability to multitask help interns build positive client relationships and support team objectives. These capabilities are crucial for delivering outstanding client service and enhancing overall customer satisfaction in a competitive business environment.

What types of projects or tasks can a client experience intern expect to work on during their internship?

As a Client Experience Intern, you can expect to assist with a variety of tasks aimed at supporting and improving the overall client journey. Typical responsibilities include gathering and analyzing client feedback, helping coordinate meetings or events, preparing client-facing materials, and collaborating with cross-functional teams such as sales, marketing, and customer support. Interns often get hands-on experience in process improvement initiatives and may have opportunities to contribute ideas for enhancing client satisfaction. This role provides valuable insights into customer relationship management and is a great stepping stone for careers in client services or account management.

At David Zwirner, we look to be an industry leader in our field, with our artists at the center of what we do. Our global exhibition program expands beyond our locations in New York, London, Los Angeles, Hong Kong, and Paris, representing more than seventy artists and estates. Home to innovative, singular, and pioneering exhibitions across a variety of media and genres. Active in both the primary and secondary markets, David Zwirner has helped foster the careers of some of the most influential artists today.

Who will work well with us:

  • The ideal candidate is someone who is passionate and interested in the arts/larger creative arena or is eager to learn.
  • We welcome all individuals entering the workforce, those moving into a new stage of their career or vocation, making a change, returning to work, and those wanting to learn and grow within the industry, to apply.

About the Opportunity

Digital Marketing & Client Development Intern

David Zwirner seeks a highly motivated Digital Marketing & Client Development Intern at its New York gallery. This position offers a meaningful opportunity to become part of an innovative team working across global locations. The intern will work closely with the Client Development Assistants and Digital Marketing team to support in: entering information into the database, ensuring continuous inbox coverage, and assisting the Sales Team with research projects. The ideal candidate will have a genuine interest in the arts, strong organizational and communication skills, and enthusiasm for the evolving intersection of art, client relations, and digital strategy.

Qualified candidates should be highly personable, organized, motivated, and responsible, with an interest in gaining experience in the daily operations of a contemporary art gallery.

What you'll do:

  • Assist the Client Development team in entering information into the database, extracting information from the database, updating existing records with the most accurate information, and creating new records.
  • Conduct research through print & digital publications and social media outlets, and collaborate on data & reporting, to help support the Sales Team.
  • Utilize various technological platforms to help process inbound messages to the gallery.
  • Help liaise with the global team of gallery assistants to ensure continuous inbox coverage and best practices.
  • Join weekly meetings and engage with a broad range of Marketing, Client Development, Digital, and Sales team members.
  • Assist with ad hoc projects and department needs as assigned.

What we would like you to have:

  • Must be comfortable and capable of working with large amounts of data
  • The ability to multitask, attention to detail, strong written and verbal communication skills, and a desire to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • The ability to exercise diligence and discretion, be extremely organized, and possess a strong sense of time management.
  • A genuine interest in contemporary art and David Zwirner's program; one previous art industry internship preferred.

The internship runs from September 1st - November 25th, 2026 with the possibility of a part-time extension. This position is 4 days a week, Monday through Friday, 10AM – 6PM (days of week to be determined), and the occasional need for remote weekend work. To ensure that our interns have a well-rounded and educational experience, we ask for a commitment of approximately 3 months. All interns are paid NYC minimum wage of $17/hour. All candidates must be residents of NY, NJ, or CT. No lodging or commuting expenses will be provided. Only qualified candidates will be contacted. Absolutely no calls or walk-ins please.

Please submit a resume and cover letter.
