As a Business Development Manager, you will play a key role in driving the growth and expansion of the organization across all divisions and locations. Reporting to senior leadership, you will be responsible for developing strategic partnerships, identifying new business opportunities, expanding existing client relationships, and executing business development strategies that support long-term corporate growth.

This role requires a highly motivated sales professional with a strong understanding of the construction industry, exceptional relationship-building skills, and a proven ability to generate new business opportunities.

Key ResponsibilitiesBusiness Development & Sales Strategy
  • Develop and execute business development strategies that align with divisional and corporate objectives.
  • Create and implement growth plans, sales forecasts, and market expansion strategies.
  • Continuously evaluate and adapt business development initiatives to maximize growth opportunities.
  • Support the growth and development of multiple business units while monitoring key performance indicators.
  • Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities across target markets.
Market Research & Industry Analysis
  • Stay informed on market conditions, industry trends, economic drivers, and client developments.
  • Conduct market research and industry analysis to identify future investment opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain long-term market acquisition and growth strategies.
  • Monitor competitor activities and evaluate market threats and opportunities.
  • Review public and private procurement platforms to identify upcoming projects and business opportunities.
Client Relationship Management
  • Develop, maintain, and strengthen relationships with clients, developers, architects, consultants, landlords, project managers, and industry stakeholders.
  • Foster long-term client relationships that generate repeat business and future opportunities.
  • Act as a trusted advisor and ambassador for the company during all client interactions.
  • Conduct regular client meetings and follow-up activities to strengthen engagement and identify opportunities.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to client inquiries and requests.
Lead Generation & Prospecting
  • Actively generate new business opportunities through direct prospecting, networking, referrals, and industry events.
  • Conduct cold calls and outreach activities to build and expand the sales pipeline.
  • Qualify opportunities and prioritize efforts based on strategic objectives.
  • Maintain a consistent and disciplined approach to lead follow-up and opportunity management.
  • Present company services and value propositions to prospective clients.
Proposal & Pursuit Management
  • Lead the sales process from opportunity identification through contract award.
  • Coordinate RFP responses, prequalification submissions, presentations, and client interviews.
  • Serve as Proposal Manager on approved pursuits.
  • Facilitate Bid/No-Bid decisions, pursuit planning sessions, and management review meetings.
  • Implement and maintain proposal development procedures and best practices.
  • Negotiate agreements and support contract award processes.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure pursuit strategies align with corporate objectives.
CRM & Reporting
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date customer relationship management (CRM) records.
  • Track opportunities, sales activities, client interactions, and pipeline performance.
  • Prepare monthly business development reports and project updates.
  • Participate in strategic planning sessions and performance review meetings.
  • Present business development metrics and recommendations to leadership teams.
Marketing & Industry Engagement
  • Participate in the planning and execution of marketing initiatives, including:

  • Represent the company at industry associations and professional organizations.

  • Work closely with operations, estimating, project management, and executive leadership teams to maximize opportunity success.
QualificationsEducation & Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum ten (10) years of construction industry experience considered an asset.
  • Proven track record of business development success within the construction industry.
  • Strong industry presence and reputation within the Northern Ontario market.
  • Minimum three (3) years of leadership or team management experience.
  • Demonstrated success in client acquisition, relationship management, and strategic growth initiatives.
Technical Knowledge
  • Strong understanding of the construction industry and project delivery methods.
  • Knowledge of construction estimating and costing principles.
  • General understanding of real estate development and land development markets.
  • Experience managing CRM systems and sales pipelines.
  • Familiarity with procurement platforms, RFP processes, and proposal management.
