Description

We are seeking a highly motivated Database and Development Associate to join our Equity Research Production team, to deliver Global Equity Products systems/reporting/analytics/CRM support and business insights to senior executives and front-line professionals to support publication, performance management, and strategic objectives. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in finance and/or energy, a genuine interest in capital markets, and intellectual curiosity to thrive in a fast-paced, idea-driven environment.

Candidates who are eager to leverage technology and AI to enhance research efficiency, data analysis, and insight generation will be particularly well suited to this role.

Key Responsibilities

Publishing Admin and Reporting - Weighting 50%

  • Utilize technical skills to efficiently and effectively input, extract and manipulate data from client databases or other source systems to meet various publishing/reporting needs

  • Develop and implement reporting for Global Equity Products

  • Understand the business rationale of all requests being made

  • Manage client expectations, and meet agreed upon deadlines; produce work that is timely and accurate. Strive to provide great customer service and anticipate follow-up inquiries

  • Question the integrity of data; delve into data issues raised and work with Operations/Technology to fix at the source considering the implication on any other data that would be similarly impacted

  • Participate in and contribute to project and team meetings, interacting and collaborating with team members and other departments, as appropriate, in order to understand project requirements

Analytical Insights and Observations - Weighting: 25%

  • Learn and implement advanced analytics to help resolve priority business problems

  • Utilize knowledge of CM's businesses, products, and risk measures to provide insight and analysis in support of LOB performance and strategic objectives

  • Perform detailed financial and business analysis as necessary to support Capital Markets

Process Efficiencies - Weighting: 25%

  • Leverage existing reports and business metrics reported where possible to minimize unnecessary work

  • Assess current practice of generating reports and introduce process efficiencies / automation in database and reporting

Experience & Skills

A combination of strong analytical, written and verbal skills, and a demonstrated interest in financial services technology and emerging technologies through relevant education or work experience is required. The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Undergraduate degree, with 2-5 years of relevant work experience

  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Salesforce, Power BI, PowerQuery, CoPilot, Python, C#

  • Understanding of Capital Markets products

  • Knowledge of BMO Capital Markets' financial systems an asset

  • Knowledge of BlueMatrix, Tier1 is an asset

  • Understanding of data science and financial accounting concepts

  • Effective self-starter with a can-do attitude who takes ownership and accountability for project deliverables with a demonstrated ability to multi-task

  • Exceptional communication, analytical, presentation, interpersonal, and organization/time management skills

  • Superior attention to detail and accuracy, while being able to draw out big picture conclusions from analyses and focus on the critical business issues, particularly when taking on complex and ambiguous tasks

Salary

The salary range for this role is $110,000 up to $130,000 CAD (subject to the candidate meeting the specific skills, experience, education, and qualification requirements).
