SALARY RANGE: $65,000-$75,000 annually

WHAT YOU’LL BE UP TO

At Prix Fixe, we really believe that people are the core element of success, and our Accountants play the most pivotal role:  Our team is directly responsible for helping our clients survive and translate the numbers to a language our clients can understand. 

You’ll maintain relationships with restaurateurs and chefs and your team of accountants primarily via email and zoom. You’ll assist accountants in developing a strong understanding of accounting and the process in which Prix Fixe gets the work done.

The Accounting Manager/ Pod Lead is a multifaceted position. In a typical week, theAccounting Manager/ Pod Lead will spend roughly 50% of their time completing accounting tasks, 40% of their time in meetings and training with the accountant team and 10% of their time communicating with clients.

JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

Responsible for maintaining accounting standard operating procedure (SOP) and management of their team of bookkeepers & accountants. This person is responsible for training and feedback of staff as well as periodic review of direct reports with the Director of Accounting. They are responsible for ensuring efficiency within the team. Additionally, they are responsible for creating and managing company culture by setting up routine video calls, team building exercises and other forms of communication. The key component of a successful career with Prix Fixe Accounting is integrity and a genuine understanding of hospitality; this is essential to the job in order to develop long-term client relationships that are built on trust and our shared interest in their success.

ACCOUNTING DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Payroll - Payroll processing, verification of timesheets, validation of tip pool distributions, processing payroll and addressing payroll tax issues as required. 
  • Accounts Payable / Cash Management - Paying of bills, and management of client cash is required. Some cash flow projections may also be required.
  • Accounts Receivable - Accurate invoicing of clients, and AR Management. Work with 3rd party vendors for debt collection.
  • Balance Sheet Entries - Creation and management of depreciation schedules and prepaid and accrued expense tracking. Accountants must also be able to prepare and maintain workpapers to support the balance sheet.
  • Reporting - Review and prepare financials for analysis and client meetings. Responsible for closing books in a timely manner. 
  • Year End Preparation - Monthly reconciliation of balance sheet and review of financials to ensure accuracy. Prepare a file for tax preparer review and tax filings.
SUPERVISORY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Mastery of Bookkeeping Duties - It is expected that the Accounting Manager/ Pod Lead be a resource to bookkeepers and accountants on these subjects and solve more complex accounting issues. 
  • Automation and Efficiency - Recognize opportunities where clients can benefit from 3rd party applications to increase efficiency. Work with the Chief Operating Officer to implement these applications. 
  • Reporting - Work with Accountants to review and prepare financials for analysis and client meetings.
  • Review - Review staff accountants books and review the monthly close, and review year end close with supporting documentation and workpapers.
  • Operational Efficiency & KPI - Operational efficiency is a key metric with bookkeeping, the Accounting Manager/ Pod Lead will  assist in routine analysis and benchmarking of staff.
  • Problem Solving -  Getting in front of, and triaging issues is a major aspect of this job. Personnel changes, errors resulting in client losses, and simple payroll conversions all fall within the purview of  theAccounting Manager/ Pod Lead.
  • Application of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) - Work with the Director of Accounting to ensure that Standard Operating Procedures and standards are adhered to by accounting staff.
  • Supervisory & Training - Accounting Manager / Pod Lead is responsible for period review of direct reports with the Director of Accounting. Accounting Manager/ Pod Lead is also responsible for assisting in the onboarding of new employees and training them on Standard Operating Procedures. 
REQUIREMENTS
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree. Focus in accounting or business administration is a plus.  
  • 3 - 4 years of experience in a Client Accounting Services (CAS) role. 
  • 4+ years of experience in a supervisory role.
  • A strong work ethic, including self motivation, attention to detail, follow through and analytical ability.
  • A high degree of professionalism and the ability to maintain the highest levels of confidentiality and integrity.
  • The ability to manage multiple tasks with a high level of detail and accuracy.
  • The ability to manage in a team-centered environment.
  • Must possess a high level of excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • QuickBooks Online proficiency required. Quickbooks Online Level II Certification required within the first month of employment.
  • Responsible for the highest levels of certifications achieved in all apps in the app stack. 
  • Deep understanding of functionality of PFA-approved Point-of-Sale systems. 
  • The ability to delegate tasks to their team of accountants and bookkeepers.
  • The ability to work well as a team and mentor to their staff.
  • Experience working in the hospitality industry is not required, but is highly desired.
