Civil Engineering Manager, Renewables

Westwood Professional Services, Inc.

The Civil Engineering Manager at Westwood not only plays a pivotal role in overseeing and managing civil design and technical solutions for utility-scale renewable projects but also excels in supervising and mentoring a team of design professionals. This leadership position involves providing strategic direction, guidance, and mentorship to the design team to ensure the successful execution of projects.


In addition to defining project tasks, schedules, and resource requirements, the Engineering Manager is responsible for supervising staff, improving workflows, and fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment. By supervising people effectively, the Engineering Manager ensures that team members are empowered to excel in their roles, contribute their best work, and grow professionally within the organization.


Furthermore, the Engineering Manager plays a crucial role in upholding QA/QC standards, overseeing project scopes, managing budgets, and identifying opportunities for additional scope and revenue. By supervising staff, participating in business development activities, and building strong relationships with clients and internal teams, the Engineering Manager drives project success and contributes to the overall growth and success of Westwood in the renewable energy sector.

Requirements:

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all civil design aspects for utility-scale renewable projects.
  • Provide strategic direction, leadership, and mentorship to the design team.
  • Define project tasks, schedules, and resource requirements.
  • Prepare and support project proposals.
  • Establish goals for project deliverables and maintain QA/QC standards.
  • Improve workflows and products.
  • Supervise and mentor staff/project engineers.
  • Participate in business development activities.
  • Foster relationships with internal teams.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Proven experience in civil design and technical solutions for renewable projects.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to define project tasks, schedules, and resource requirements.
  • Proficiency in budget management and proposal preparation.
