Job Summary

This role is responsible for leading the civil/structural engineering scope of the Power Uprate projects. The manager ensures the design, analysis, and modification of civil and structural systems meet NRC requirements, industry codes, and Vistra standards. Additionally, this role coordinates with EPC partners, OEMs, and site engineering to deliver constructible and safe civil solutions that support plant reliability and long-term operations.

Key Accountabilities
  • Lead the civil/structural engineering scope for EPU projects, ensuring safety, constructability, and schedule adherence.
  • Direct and review civil/structural designs, ensuring compliance with NRC licensing bases, ACI/AISC codes, and fleet standards.
  • Coordinate with EPC contractors, OEMs, and site engineering on building, foundation, and structural modifications.
  • Support Owner’s Engineer and independent third-party reviews to validate design quality and seismic/structural integrity.
  • Resolve civil/structural technical issues that could impact project or outage milestones.
  • Ensure designs support long‑term operability, maintainability, and integration into existing plant infrastructure.
Education, Experience, & Skill Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (required).
  • 10+ years of nuclear or heavy industrial engineering experience, with 5+ years in civil/structural design and construction.
  • Experience on Extended Power Uprates, large component replacements, or projects exceeding $1B in infrastructure.
  • Strong knowledge of NRC, INPO, ASME, ANSI, and ACI/AISC codes and standards.
  • Proven ability to lead discipline‑specific teams and interface with EPCs, OEMs, and site operations.
  • Experience with seismic analysis, structural modifications, and NRC design‑basis compliance preferred.
Key Metrics
  • On‑time delivery of civil/structural engineering milestones.
  • Compliance with NRC, ACI, AISC, ASME, and fleet standards.
  • Minimal corrective actions from regulatory or third‑party reviews.
  • Strong coordination with EPCs, OEMs, and site engineering.
  • Structural modifications successfully integrated with plant operations and proven reliable under design‑basis conditions.
  • Successful completion of independent reviews with minimal corrective actions.
  • Effective coordination between Project Leadership, site engineering, Owner’s Engineer, and third parties.
