Job description

Extra Duty Pay Scale - Policy GCBC-E
 

Title: Assistant Coach

 

FLSA Status: Exempt

 

Reports To: Head Coach or Designee

 

Supervises: Athletic Players

 

Qualifications:

 
  • CHSAA coaching certification or teaching license.

  • Current First Aid/CPR certification.

  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.

  • Commitment to fostering a positive and professional athletic environment.

 

Job Goal:

 
  • The Assistant Coach provides support to the head coach in developing and maintaining a successful sports program. This includes ensuring adherence to district and league policies, promoting a positive environment for athletes, and representing Wray School District RD-2 in a professional manner.

 

Responsibilities:

 
  1. Policy Adherence: Ensure compliance with Wray School District RD-2 policies, CHSAA, and league rules.

  2. Certification Requirements: Maintain CHSAA coaching certification, First Aid/CPR certification, and any relevant teaching licenses.

  3. Practice Planning: Supports and meets with head coach in developing and implementing daily written practice plans.

  4. Equipment & Facilities: Supports head coach in managing care, inventory, and storage of equipment and assists with facility preparation and maintenance as needed.

  5. Supervision: Provide total supervision of athletes before, during, and after practices or activities, ensuring safety and discipline.

  6. Communication: Maintain regular communication with the head coach.

  7. Support: Promote and support all Wray School District programs and adhere to administrative decisions.

  8. Administrative Duties: Follow the chain of command as outlined in the coaching handbook.

  9. Professional Development: Attend sport-specific coaching clinics and maintain recommended CHSCA membership.

 

Additional Responsibilities:

 
  • Lock and secure athletic facilities nightly.

  • Participate in post-season equipment/uniform check-in.

  • Tidy up the area used for practice or training and ensure all equipment is put up and stowed away in its proper place.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Athletic Director or designee.

 

Terms of Employment:

 
  • Salary and work year as described in district policy. This role requires time outside of regular school hours, including evenings and weekends for practices, competitions, and related events.

 

Evaluation:

 
  • Performance of the Assistant Coach will be evaluated annually by the Athletic Director and Head Coach to ensure alignment with district goals, policies, and the effective support of student athletic needs.
