Job description

Tooele County is accepting applications for a Dispatcher with the Tooele County Sheriff's Department.
Applicants currently employed as a 9-1-1 Dispatcher can receive a lateral transfer pay. Please attach all diplomas and certifications you may have acquired for verification.
POSITION DUTIES: Dispatchers are the primary answering point for all 911 and non-emergency phone calls from within Tooele County. The Communications Center operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with two separate shifts. Dispatchers must be able to work odd hours and be on-call on short notice.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Dispatcher I - $22.69: Possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent; and must have two (2) years of work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; Must be 18 years of age or older, demonstrate the ability to type 30 words a minute with a high degree of accuracy, and pass a Dispatcher/Call-taker pre-employment multi-tasking test; Must satisfactorily complete one (1) year probation.
Dispatcher II - $24.97: Meet minimum qualifications for Dispatcher I; Must have a minimum of two (2) years of work experience as a Dispatcher and currently employed as a Utah 9-1-1 Center Dispatcher; Accept additional duty assignments as required; Must have a minimum of two (2) certifications (see career ladder).
Dispatcher III - $26.96: Meet minimum requirements for a Dispatcher II; Minimum of five (5) years' work experience; Must have completed Utah Peace Officers Standard and Training (POST) Instructor Development certification; Must be certified as a Communications Training Officer (CTO) and train new hires as needed or certified as a Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Instructor and instruct courses as needed; see career ladder for additional qualifications.
