The Chamber works to create a business-friendly climate, deliver meaningful value to members, connect leaders across the region, and advance long-term economic prosperity. Compensation and Benefits
This position offers a competitive base salary of $50,000, plus monthly commission and bonus opportunities. The Chamber provides a comprehensive benefits package that includes health, dental, and vision coverage; a 401(k) program with employer contributions; generous paid time off and paid holidays; professional development opportunities; business mileage reimbursement; and a flexible hybrid work environment. Eligibility and plan terms apply.
What You'll Do
  • Develop and execute a territory and account strategy that consistently achieves or exceeds monthly and annual new-membership revenue goals.
  • Build a strong pipeline through disciplined outbound prospecting, referrals, networking, Chamber programs, industry research, and timely follow-up on qualified leads.
  • Lead discovery conversations with owners, executives, and senior decision-makers to understand business priorities and align the right membership level and benefits to their needs.
  • Deliver persuasive presentations and proposals that communicate the Chamber's value, including access, advocacy, visibility, business resources, events, and regional connections.
  • Manage the complete sales process, including qualification, forecasting, objection handling, negotiation, closing, payment coordination, and accurate membership documentation.
  • Maintain timely, complete CRM records, prospect notes, pipeline stages, next steps, and forecasts to support accountability and data-informed decisions.
  • Represent the Chamber at business, member, and community events throughout Southeast Michigan, building a visible and credible professional network.
  • Partner closely with Membership Engagement, Resource Development, Events, Marketing, and other teams to create a smooth transition from prospect to engaged member.
  • Stay current on the Chamber's programs, policy priorities, research, events, and membership offerings to sell with confidence and relevance.
  • Contribute sales insight, competitive intelligence, and market feedback to improve messaging, campaigns, and the overall member experience.
What You Bring
  • At least five years of successful B2B, consultative, relationship-based, or membership sales experience, with a record of meeting or exceeding revenue goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently build pipeline, advance complex opportunities, and close new business with multiple stakeholders.
  • Executive presence and strong written, verbal, presentation, listening, and negotiation skills.
  • Sound business judgment and the ability to connect broad organizational benefits to a prospect's specific objectives.
  • Strong organization, follow-through, time management, and attention to detail in a goal-driven environment.
  • Proficiency with CRM platforms, Microsoft 365, virtual meeting tools, and sales reporting or forecasting practices.
  • Ability and willingness to travel locally, attend occasional early-morning or evening events, and work effectively in a hybrid environment.
  • Commitment to ethical selling, collaboration, inclusion, and excellent service.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, communications, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
  • Experience selling memberships, professional services, sponsorships, media, technology, or other intangible business solutions.
  • An established network within Southeast Michigan's business community.

  • Engage with decision-makers from companies of all sizes and industries.
  • Pair financial rewards with work that strengthens businesses and the Detroit Region.
  • Join an inclusive, collaborative organization with visible professional development and community impact.
