Job description

Description
As the Certification Engineer, you will be accountable for compliance with applicable regulations, corporate policies, and procedures. This includes assisting in the development of documentation, plans, and periodic assessments. You are responsible for leading all certification activities - sending and returning fixtures for test, organizing all reports, and maintaining the technical file pertaining to our products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Actively support certification of product development projects from concept to post-release with a strong sense of urgency and action.
  • Point of contact for all spot inspections and ongoing compliance efforts.
  • Develops and maintains products against an internal RBW Safety protocol and standard.
  • Perform research to understand the newest compliance regulations and communicate impact to appropriate internal teams.
  • Review or test products during the design phase to flag compliance concerns or violations, including developing formal test plans to achieve product requirements.
  • Manage process, timeline, budget, and workload for compliance and performance-related responsibilities; provide consultation and support to other members. 
  • Determine appropriate scope, develop preliminary test plan and specifications such as cost, time, and sample requirements. 
  • Carry out in-house testing throughout the development process. (thermal, ground-bonding, etc…).


Ideal Skills and Experience
  • BS in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Discipline or similar
  • 4+ years in product certification involving LED lighting and must have a thorough working knowledge of the North America UL and European EN/IEC lighting standards. 
  • Thorough familiarity with relevant lighting standards in the US and Europe, such as UL2108, UL1598, UL8750, JA-8, Title 24, EN 61347, EN 60598, EN 61558, EN 55015, and CISPR 15, etc.
  • Excellent communication and time management skills.
  • Detailed-oriented, and able to keep up with multiple projects at the same time. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, as they will represent our team to both certifying agencies and customers who require information about our product certifications.
