Job description

Purpose / Scope:

Certify engineering work of the office as required, ensuring conformance with established programs and objectives. Provide technical support for internal contacts. Maintain design standards to ensure compliance with applicable codes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Assist Production, Field, Sales, Estimating and Project Management with technical support
  • Review, sign and seal drawings, calculations and other documents as required
  • Actively reviews engineering designs for consistent quality by ensuring engineering processes are adequately checked to eliminate errors
  • Reviews updated building codes upon release and updates documentation and standards to ensure compliance
  • Attends roll out meetings on new projects
  • Assist in rating information received for structural drawings requirements as part of the RID process
  • Assist Chief Engineer with development of training guidelines and documentation on engineering standards in conjunction with the Engineering Standards Manager

Basic Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Civil Engineering
  • Minimum 10 years progressive experience in structural design 
  • Professional Registration

Other Required Qualifications:

  • Able to develop strong professional working relationships with all manufacturing and field personnel
  • Must possess good organizational skills and be able to handle multiple priorities
  • Must work well as a team member as well as a project leader
  • Innovative, quality-orientated professional
  • Excellent verbal and written communication

Preferred Qualifications:

5 years precast design experience

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to travel
  • Move 25lbs (not for all jobs, reasonable accommodations will be made), work with a computer for extended periods of time

Work Environment:

  •  This position works in an office environment with occasional travel and visits to the plant, yard and field construction sites
  • Quiet with some ambient noise, climate controlled, fluorescent lighting
