Job description

The Product Assurance Engineer is responsible for providing independent engineering assurance that products meet requirements, perform reliably, and are ready for deployment. Working across multiple engineering disciplines, this role verifies product functionality, investigates technical issues, analyzes reliability, and drives continuous improvement throughout the product lifecycle.
Product Assurance Engineers partner closely with stakeholders across the organization to ensure products satisfy customer and mission requirements before release while using operational experience to improve future product designs.
This role requires a systems mindset, strong technical curiosity, and the ability to solve complex multidisciplinary engineering problems.
Responsibilities
Product Verification & Validation
  • Develop verification plans that demonstrate products satisfy functional and performance requirements.
  • Design, execute, and document verification and validation activities.
  • Perform system integration, functional, regression, environmental, and acceptance testing.
  • Verify traceability between requirements, test procedures, and verification results.
  • Identify product defects, characterize failure modes, and work with development teams to resolve issues.
  • Evaluate release readiness and provide objective engineering evidence supporting product deployment.
  • Participate in laboratory, field, and flight testing activities as required.

Product Reliability Engineering
  • Analyze product performance, reliability, and operational data.
  • Identify recurring defects, failure trends, and reliability risks.
  • Perform root cause analysis of product anomalies and failures.
  • Recommend design, process, or verification improvements that increase product reliability.
  • Monitor engineering quality metrics and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support failure investigations and corrective action activities.

Operational Engineering
  • Investigate complex product issues occurring during operational use.
  • Participate in engineering response to customer-impacting events and operational anomalies.
  • Develop diagnostic tools, troubleshooting procedures, and engineering documentation.
  • Reproduce field issues in laboratory environments.
  • Document engineering findings and communicate recommendations to development teams.
  • Ensure lessons learned from operational experience improve future product releases.

Automation & Process Improvement
  • Develop and maintain automated verification tools and test infrastructure.
  • Improve verification efficiency through automation and scripting.
  • Contribute to continuous integration and automated validation pipelines.
  • Recommend improvements to engineering processes, release readiness practices, and verification methods.
  • Help establish engineering standards for product assurance activities.

Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with Software, Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace, Systems Engineering, Manufacturing, and Product Management throughout product development.
  • Participate in design reviews to improve product quality, reliability, diagnosability, and testability.
  • Communicate technical findings clearly through reports, presentations, and engineering discussions.
  • Provide objective engineering input regarding product readiness and operational risk.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
  • Entry level or early career engineer: 0-2 years.
  • Experience developing, integrating, testing, or validating complex technical systems.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience performing structured root cause analysis.
  • Understanding of systems engineering principles and product development lifecycles.
  • Ability to work effectively across multiple engineering disciplines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with embedded systems, software development, aerospace, defense, or other mission-critical products.
  • Experience with systems integration, verification and validation, or reliability engineering.
