Undergrad Intern - Operations - Holly Springs, NC (Summer 2027)
What You Will Do
Let's do this. Let's change the world. This internship will be approximately 13 weeks that includes both project- based and experiential learning. In conjunction with the project work, you will have the opportunity for professional development through training sessions, one-on-one support, and various networking events.
Be part of Amgen's newest and most advanced drug substance manufacturing plant. When completed, the Amgen North Carolina FleX Batch facility will combine the latest in single-use technologies with traditional stainless-steel equipment to allow for maximum flexibility in operations. The FleX Batch facility will not only feature the best in-class drug substance manufacturing technologies with embedded industry 4.0 capabilities, but it will also integrate sustainability innovations to reduce carbon and waste, as part of Amgen's plan to be a carbon-neutral company by 2027.
Operations is one of three foundational functions at Amgen with a mission to manufacture and deliver safe and effective medicine to patients around the world. The Operations function is divided into the following five sub- functions: Supply Chain, Process Development, Quality, Manufacturing, and Facilities & Engineering.
We are currently seeking highly motivated, hardworking individuals who will lead initiatives, strategic analysis, and business case development on projects across the Operations functions present at Amgen North Carolina. During this program, you will focus on making effective recommendations to the organization's senior leadership.
Responsibilities include:
  • Provide representation supporting the design and construction for functional area projects
  • Activities can include completing technical evaluations, presenting data, making recommendations, and closing action items
  • Work cross-functionally to identify the problem, measure the current state, develop recommendations through qualitative and quantitative analysis, and present the findings
  • Functional specific tasks such as completion of equipment design, development of supply planning tools, or maturation of unit operational readiness deliverables

Program Eligibility Requirements
  • Expected completion of one year of study from an accredited college or university prior to the internship commencing
  • Expected continued enrollment in an accredited college or university following the internship program
  • Student must be located in the United States for the duration of the internship program
  • Must be available to work a full-time schedule.
  • Must be available to accept and commit to future full-time employment by July 2028, if offered

Basic Qualifications:
Amgen requires that all individuals applying for an undergrad internship or a co-op assignment at Amgen must meet the following criteria:
  • 18 years or older
  • Currently enrolled in a full-time Bachelor's Degree program from an accredited college or university with a 3.0 minimum GPA or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
  • Degree concentration(s) in Engineering, Chemistry / Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biomanufacturing, Life Science, Biology, Biotechnology, or Supply Chain
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint)
  • VBA for Excel and SQL knowledge
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, project management, problem solving, analytical and quantitative skills
  • Demonstrated personal initiative, self-motivation, flexibility and adaptability
  • Proven leadership experience on campus (e.g., projects, clubs, organizations, sports)

The base pay range for this opportunity in the U.S. is $28.87 per hour.
