Job description

Job Objective:

To manage Career Center operations to support job seekers in gaining employment or advancing their careers through targeted programs, resources, and employer partnerships. This position reports to CTE Team Lead who evaluates performance annually.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Career Center Assistant.
  • Career Center Custodian.
Essential Job Functions:
  • Welcome and assist customers upon arrival, guiding them through orientation, sign-in procedures, and ongoing activities.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential records of client demographics, activities, and program participation.
  • Conduct initial assessments to identify customer needs and connect them with appropriate resources, tools, and services.
  • Coordinate and promote on-site training, job readiness workshops, and employer-led sessions.
  • Organize and advertise interview opportunities both on-site and off-site.
  • Ensure up-to-date job leads and labor market information are available and accessible.
  • Enroll eligible participants into programs using Social Solutions, ensuring all documentation and assessments are complete.
  • Provide individualized support with resumes, cover letters, applications, and referrals to community resources.
  • Maintain strong relationships with retail staff to promote Career Center services and events.
  • Hire, train, and supervise Career Center Assistants and staff, assigning duties and ensuring quality service delivery.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Required Education and Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in social services or a related field preferred; minimum of one year of college and relevant work experience required.
  • Strong ability to motivate and support individuals facing barriers to employment, including those with disadvantages or disabilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively across all levels of an organization.
  • Skilled in managing multiple priorities and adapting to changing demands.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Culturally competent, with the ability to relate to individuals from diverse economic, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds.
  • Conflict resolution and negotiation skills to foster collaborative and favorable outcomes.
  • Marketing experience and skills preferred.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screen.
  • Must have reliable transportation, a current driver's license, and provide proof of insurance to travel to different job sites.
Qualifications:
  • Authorized to work in the United States.
  • Flexible availability.
  • Able to frequently bend, twist, reach above shoulder level, push and pull, crouch or stoop, kneel, repetitively use feet, and use head and neck in a twisting or static motion and to look up and/or down, and lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
