Position Purpose:Â The Career Development Coordinator works collaboratively with administrators, student services personnel, local business leaders, teachers, and students to support transition to employment and/or postsecondary education.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Student Career Development & Transition Services
- Classroom Engagement: Visit classrooms to discuss the value of career pathways and development, branching out from Career and Technical Education (CTE) classrooms to general education spaces.
- Employability Skills Support: Provide individual or group instruction on resume writing, job-seeking strategies, mock interviews, and career development planning.
- Transition Planning: Establish timelines and manage the administration of Career Development Plans (CDPs) at the middle and high school level.
- Targeted Support: Assist at-risk student populations with post-secondary transition choices-including college applications, military pathways, and scholarship options-while participating in At-Risk Committee (ARC) meetings to reduce student barriers.
- Large-Scale Events: Plan and coordinate regional career fairs, school visits, National Manufacturing Day events, Construction Career Day, and targeted programming for November's Career Development Month and February's CTE Month.
Work-Based Learning & Community Relations
- Internship Coordination: Manage student internship paperwork for both fall and spring semesters, including conducting mandatory site visits and evaluation checkpoints at least once every nine weeks.
- Community Partnerships: Serve as an active district liaison to post-secondary institutions, military branches, business partners and community groups.
- CTE Program Promotion: Market district-wide CTE pathways, articulation programs, and student certifications using targeted newsletters, social media posts, and public awareness campaigns.
- Advisory Collaboration: Assist in planning, hosting, and participating in the regional Business Advisory Council.
CTE Teacher Support & Curriculum Guidance
- Operational Readiness: Help new and returning CTE teachers navigate start-of-year procedures, including blueprints, curriculum resource coordination (equipment/materials), and gaining access to platforms like CTE Moodle, Canvas, and NCAuth.
- Professional Learning Communities (PLCs): Attend and lead district PLCs, advise new staff on regional procedures, and communicate vital updates sent down from the Department of Public Instruction (DPI).
- Instructional Enrichment: Assist teachers in integrating guest speakers and mapping field trips or Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) events.
Assessment & Data Accountability
- Concentrator & EOY Audits: Regularly audit student transcripts to accurately compile, update, and manage the CTE Concentrator and Completer lists, verifying student eligibility for senior honors cords and endorsements.
- Testing Implementation: Build comprehensive testing plans for CTE POLs and coordinate both fall and spring ACT WorkKeys testing.
- Accountability Verification: Complete proctor/administrator training, verify class rosters in NCCTE Admin, manage Proof of Learning (POL) teacher accountability forms, and file end-of-term reporting.
Special Populations Support
- Plan Accommodations: Work directly with the Special Populations Coordinator (SPC) to identify qualified students and coordinate required documentation.
- Blueprint Alignments: Build, manage, and execute Modified Blueprint setups and check-ins for students requiring specific curriculum modifications.
Documentation Audits: Regularly review, collect, and proof (iPOLs) and Modified Blueprints across semesters, concluding with comprehensive file audits at the close of the academic year.
Other duties assigned by the principal and/or CTE Director should be discussed and documented on a regular basis

- Requirements to convert to continuing:
- Option 1 (2 required courses)
- National Career Development Association (NCDA) Facilitating Career Development (FCD) Course
- Option 2 (Six semester hours and Induction)
- 3 semester hours in Counseling theory
- 3 semester hours from the following:

- Career and life planning

- Option 1 (2 required courses)
