Day (United States of America)Job Summary:The EKG Technician produces recordings of the heart muscle using an electrocardiogram (EKG) to provide data for diagnosis of heart conditions. The EKG Technician functions under the direction of the Cardiology Supervisor. The EKG Technician is proficient in performing 12-Lead EKG's, exercise and pharmacological stress testing and attaches Holter and Event monitor electrodes. The EKG Technician keys information in the computer system, processes and distributes confirmed reports and must participate in quality control. EKG Technician replenishes supplies, maintains equipment, and reports any equipment malfunctions. EKG Technicians are responsible for providing age-appropriate care and must validate work skills for all diagnostics functions.Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:Performs 12-Lead EKGs, apply Holter and Event monitors, exercise and pharmacological stress test, Signal averaged EKG (Hi-Res) and blood pressure checks.Make corrections and updates patient records in EPIC and MUSE EKG system. Answer incoming calls and follow through with request made. Assist staff with patient/doctor problems and/or complaints.Performs other duties as assignedComplies with all WellStar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.Required Minimum Education: High School Graduate RequiredRequired Minimum License(s) and Certification(s): All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.
  • Basic Life Support or BLS - Instructor
Additional License(s) and Certification(s):Completion of EKG monitoring course or 1 year of current on job training. Upon Hire RequiredRequired Minimum Experience: 6 months experience in healthcare setting RequiredRequired Minimum Skills:Computer/data entry experience,ability to communicate with various members of the healthcare team and can exercise independent judgement.
