The Heart Hospital Frisco - 7600 Better Way, Frisco, TX 75033

  • Department:  Invasive Cardiology 

  • Position: Cath Lab Supervisor

  • Shift: Days: 7am - 5:30pm with rotating day off (Mon or Fri)

  • Required Experience: 3 years of recent Cath Lab or EP Lab experience in a high-acuity cardiovascular procedural envionment. Minimum 1 year of charge, lead or supevisory experience in a Cath or procedural setting.

  • Demonstrated experience supporting procedures such as:

    • Coronary angiography and PCI
    • STEMI intervention
    • Structural heart procedures
    • Electrophysiology procedures and device implants
    • Strong knowledge of hemodynamic monitoring, procedural workflow, and emergency response.
  • Ability and willingness to provide direct clinical support and staffing coverage within Cath and EP Labs as operationally needed, including participation in call coverage.

Job Summary

The Supervisor Invasive Cardiology plans, organizes, and supervises clinical duties. They ensure quality care for adults and geriatric patients undergoing invasive cardiovascular and electrophysiology procedures in the Heart Center. Using professionalism, they plan, implement, and evaluate care programs to ensure effective care.

Essential Functions of the Role
  • Ensures quality care and testing of patients by following established guidelines of performance.
  • Plans, organizes, supervises, or performs clinical duties for Cardiac Catheterizations, Temporary Pacemaker Insertions, and Intra-aortic Balloon Insertions. Also handles Electrophysiology, Ablations, ICD Implantations, Brachytherapy, AAA, Stent Placements, and noninvasive procedures.
  • Performs pre and post procedure care. Collects and prepares catheterization data for procedures.
  • Prepares and orients patients for all catheterization procedures, and answers related questions to make patient relaxed.
  • Provides safe transportation for patients within the Medical Center. Ensures monitoring of patients during transport, as needed.
  • Establishes staffing needs and scheduling requirements.
  • Coordinates scheduling with staff members, Physicians, and other departments as necessary to ensure adequate coverage, including on-call coverage.
  • Recommends for hire, development and evaluation Invasive Cardiology staff. May take part in interviewing, training, counseling staff.
  • Establishes and implements ongoing Improving Organizational Performance programs.
  • Ensures compliance with hospital and the Joint Commission & OSHA standards to increase compliance and safety.
  • Initiates corrective action as needed.
  • Maintains current and complete policies and procedures manuals.
  • Implements and enforces radiation safety of the department including participating on the Radiation Safety Committee.
  • Directs continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities to better serve customer needs and improve quality of services.
  • Maintains effective communication system, including staff and management meetings, as well as required reporting.
  • Monitors operating budgets for the department, including expenses, and explains variances.
  • Prepares and examines various statistical and financial reports for internal and external use.
  • Conducts inventory of and order catheterization labs supplies.
  • Ensures procedure rooms are adequately stocked and pharmaceuticals are rotated and maintained in a secure area.
  • Performs routine calibration and maintenance of complex equipment and tells appropriate team members for fixes.
  • Ensures cardiac cath labs are cleaned and maintained according to Infection Control policies and Operating Safety procedures.

  • Knowledge and ability to apply complex invasive cardiac and vascular values, instrumentation and techniques.
  • Knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy and physiology.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule; including early morning hours, and evening hours.
  • Have a personal interest in primary and secondary cardiac prevention. Promote a positive image in the community to market health promotion.
  • Basic medical terminology knowledge pertaining to heart disease.
  • Must exhibit exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Basic computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and data entry.

  • EDUCATION - Associate's
  • EXPERIENCE - 3 Years of Experience

CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION -

  • ACLS (ACLS): ACLS in 30 days of hire or transfer.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS): BLS in 30 days of hire or transfer.
  • ARRT-R Radiography (ARRT-R), Cert Cardiac Device Spec (CCDS), Cert EP Specialist (CEPS), Medical Radiologic Tech (MRT), Reg Cardio Electrophysiology (RCES), Reg Cardiovascular Invasive Sp (RCIS): Must meet one of the following: American Registry of Radiologic Tech (ARRT-R) and MRT through TX Medical Board, or Cardio Invasive Spec (RCIS), or Reg Cardiac Electro Spec (RCES), or Cert Electro Spec (CEPS), or Cert Cardiac Device Spec (CCDS).
