Job description

Responsibilities

The Nurse Manager assumes 24 hour responsibility for directing and coordinating the clinical activities and operations of 2M Unit. The  Nurse Manager directs, supervises and evaluates the performance of the nursing staff, contributes to the development of a fully qualified and continuously improving staff, and  he/she supports work redesign and quality improvement within the department.  The Nurse Manager plans and administers the annual budget in collaboration with the Director. The Nurse Manager integrates evidence based practice utilizing the nursing process. Demonstrates Service Excellence at all times. Other duties as assigned. Schedules staff in the most cost effective manner using OptiLink. Proactively plans for future staffing needs by using forecasting data in Optilink. Ensures staff schedules are complete and published in OptiLink within the appropriate time frame. Ensures all staffing changes are made in Optilink. Monitors patient classification, patient assignments and reconciliation in Optilink. Ensures that the unit is following our systematic method for predicting the numbers and types of required resources and making equitable and safe patient assignments. Reviews Productivity in Optilink on a daily basis. Takes corrective action to adhere to productivity standards.

Qualifications

BSN required; MSN preferred

Current Florida State RN Licensure

BLS required

Certification in specialty preferred

Knowledge of human resource management, program development, fiscal management skills, and familiarity with regulatory and accrediting agency standards preferred.

Previous management experience required

At least 3 years experience in area of practice
