What is a Capital Raising job?

A Capital Raising job involves securing funding for businesses, startups, or investment funds through equity, debt, or other financial instruments. Strong networking, financial analysis, and communication skills are essential for success in capital raising.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals in Capital Raising roles?

Professionals in Capital Raising roles often face challenges such as navigating fluctuating market conditions, meeting ambitious fundraising targets, and differentiating their organization in a competitive investor landscape. Building and maintaining long-term relationships with investors requires consistent engagement, thorough due diligence, and clear communication about opportunities and risks. Overcoming these challenges often leads to increased confidence, deeper industry insight, and greater success in securing investment.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Capital Raising position, and why are they important?

To thrive in Capital Raising, candidates typically need strong financial acumen, experience in investment strategies, and a solid understanding of market trends, often supported by degrees in finance, business, or related fields. Familiarity with CRM platforms, investor management systems, and compliance software is highly valuable, and certifications such as CFA or CAIA can enhance credibility. Exceptional communication, relationship building, and negotiation skills help professionals connect with investors and convey compelling value propositions. These skills are crucial because successful capital raising depends on both technical expertise and the ability to build trust and lasting partnerships with stakeholders.

  • Develop and manage a pipeline of investors for the Forteus funds across all investor segments, with an initial focus on early adopters, including family offices, HNWI, crypto native investors, and wealth managers
  • Effectively balance near-term asset raising goals with more scalable, institutional relationships over the medium/longer term
  • Build deep knowledge of Forteus products and digital asset markets, contributing towards investor education of these markets and investment opportunities
  • Communicate the Forteus "story" and build the Forteus brand, representing Forteus at investor conferences and networking events
  • Manage a robust and well organized sales process, document leads and interactions within the firm's CRM system, and communicate KPIs and key insights regarding our asset raising and investor pipeline development

Skill Set And Qualifications:
  • Leadership: 10+ years experience in senior client facing / sales roles in the asset management industry (preferably in alternative assets or digital assets).
  • Network: Well-established relationships with institutional investors, family offices, and HNWI investors. Ready access to networks that can accelerate Forteus's growth.
  • Sales: Exceptional client development, fundraising, and deal-making skills. Proven ability to grow AUM and cultivate trusted relationships with institutional investors.
  • Profile & Credibility: Respected industry profile with a history of integrity and excellence. Confident communicator capable of engaging senior stakeholders and decision makers.
  • Industry Knowledge: Proven experience establishing and managing sales processes to institutional standards, along with asset management product development across regulatory frameworks.
  • Communication: Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Digital Assets: Existing knowledge of the digital asset space is preferable; a demonstrable passion to learn and become immersed in the space is essential
  • Location: US based, ideally in our NYC office, although strong candidates in other locations will be considered

Join us and play a defining role in shaping our growth - where your contributions will be visible, rewarded, and instrumental to the firm's success.
