Director, Capital Formation - US East
Pantera Capital is the first institutional investment firm focused exclusively on bitcoin, other digital currencies, and companies in the blockchain tech ecosystem. Pantera launched the first cryptocurrency fund in the United States when bitcoin was at $65 /BTC in 2013. The firm subsequently launched the first exclusively-blockchain venture fund. In 2017, Pantera was the first firm to offer an early-stage token fund. Pantera manages $3.5bn across three strategies - passive, hedge, and venture - exclusively focused on bitcoin, other digital currencies, and companies in the blockchain tech ecosystem.
We are seeking to expand our business development team by adding an experienced Director to lead sales for the US East region. The candidate will play a key role in raising institutional capital for Pantera Capital's funds in the region. This position requires a seasoned professional with extensive experience in capital formation, relationship management, and alternative investments. This role requires presence at least four days a week in our New York office or traveling for business.
Responsibilities:
  • Capital Raising: Drive institutional capital-raising efforts across Pantera's investment strategies, focusing on family offices, foundations, endowments, and other institutional clients.
  • Relationship Management: Build, manage, and strengthen long-term relationships with key decision-makers at institutional organizations to drive Pantera brand, gain increasing allocations from existing LPs and drive adoption of Pantera investment strategies from new investors.
  • Investor Education: Clearly articulate Pantera's investment strategies, fund performance, and industry insights to prospective and current investors.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams, including investor relations, marketing, and portfolio managers, to align messaging and deliver tailored solutions.
  • Reporting: Track fundraising activities, prepare updates, and maintain Salesforce to ensure accurate reporting and follow-ups.
  • Demonstrate Market Expertise: Represent Pantera Capital as a thought leader in alternative investments and emerging asset classes, including digital assets
  • Understand and leverage Pantera's full direct and systematic marketing processes to achieve target engagement with LPs and prospects for all investment strategies.
  • Profile prospects for optimal methods of engagement with Pantera and capture actionable information about prospects and build knowledgebase of organizations and contacts in a timely manner.

Qualifications:
  • 4-8 years of experience in institutional capital raising, with a proven track record of success, including 2+ years in private equity, venture or hedge funds.
  • Strong existing network within family offices, foundations, and endowments.
  • Deep knowledge of alternative investments or emerging asset classes; experience in digital assets is a strong plus.
  • Exceptional relationship-building skills, with a highly professional and polished demeanor.
  • Ability to communicate complex investment strategies to sophisticated institutional audiences.
  • Previous writing experience and exceptional written communications.
  • Attention to detail and concern for quantitative accuracy.
  • Results-oriented, with a demonstrated ability to meet or exceed fundraising targets.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and CRM systems. Experience with Salesforce and HubSpot is a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree or CFA designation is a plus.

Compensation:
$150,000 - $200,000 USD*
*Compensation range is provided as an estimate and will be determined based on the candidate's experience and qualifications.
